Part A- Safety Instruction

1. General
1.1 All maintenance and repairs should be done by authorized person.
1.2 All maintenance and repairs should be done according the manufacturer
instruction .
1.3 Do not use the compressed air for breathing air. (Unless dedicated filters are
exist).
2. Compressors site
2.1 the compressor should be mounted on a straight and level floor.
2.2 The compressor must be protected from rain and direct sun.
2.3 Free area of 1 meter from each compressor side must be kept for maintenance
.
3. First operation
3.1 First operation of the compressor at the customer site must be done by
authorized personal of "EL-AV Compressors LTD ".
3.2 In the first operation phase, "EL-AV" technician will check the following
steps:
- Correct electric connection to the plant electric system.
- The compressor's axe is turning to the right direction.
- The compressor is working properly without any malfunction.
- The set pressure is set to the right valvues.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Before removing any compressor service door , stop the compressor and
disconnect the main electric power
4.2 Isolate the compressor from the plant air system by closing the gate valve.
4.3 Before opening the oil cap of the oil receiver / separator verify there is no
pressure in the oil receiver. Open the cap slowly to allow pressure release (if
any)
4.4 Check the oil level daily to avoid heating the compressor due to lake of oil.
after replacing the oil' close and tighten the cup.

Note : oil check procedures

 check the oil level each morning before the compressor's first start .
 Remove the upper panel of the compressor
 insert small mirror in front of the “oil level window”
 fix the mirror angle so the “oil level window” is clearly observed .
The oil level should be seems at the middle of the “oil level window”
 if the oil level is approaches the lower side of the window – add oil .
Be sure it is the same “ EL-4000” original oil .
It is absolutely forbidden to mix another oil .
Adding another oil ( mixing two type of oil ) can cause change of the oil
specifications , change the oil viscosity , block small oil passages and damage the
compressor seriously .

The compressor combined from 4 sub systems
2.1 The compressor pump and oil / Air treatment
Which includes : air end (air pump) intake valve , oil receiver, air / oil
separator, oil filter, minimum pressure valve, thermostatic valve.
2.2 Power system which includes : electric motor.
2.3 The cooling system which includes: air cooled radiator, cooling fan
2.4 Electric and control system which include: electric cabinet' control \ operating
panel
All the compressor systems are mounting over a common base and cover by
an acoustic hood.

On time: Time preset for automatically starting the device.

Off time: Time preset for automatically stopping the device.
Timer switch Boot-up: Ban/Allow (The automatic start time is valid for the
device only when Boot-up is set to Allow. If Boot-up is set to Ban,
the device does not automatically start even if the On time is set.
Off action: Ban/Allow (The automatic stop can be set for the
device only when Boot-up is set to Allow. If Boot-up is set to Ban,
the device does not automatically stop even if the Off time is set.

Part D – Description of compressor operation

- The air pump (Air end) is the heart of the compressor.

- The Air end compound of two steel screws (Male and female) rotating
parallel in a steel case housing.
- The screws are synchronized so there is no physical contact between the screw
and between the screw and the housing of the air end are sealed by a thin layer of
oil
- Oil is continually injected into the air end for three main purposes :
 cooling
 lubricating
 sealing
- The mixture of Air / Oil is compressed in the air end and squeezed in to the
air end outlet opening to the Air/ Oil receiver/separator.
- The main oil/air separation is performed in the air oil receiver by centrifugal
and gravitational forces.
- Secondary / final oil separation is performs by the separator (dedicated air/oil
filter).
- The separated oil is flow back to the air end. The clean hot air passes through
after cooler (An air / air heat exchanger) and cools down to approximately ambient
+ 10 °c .
- Since the compressed air is humid for most industrial purposes , a dryer should
be installed in the air line (usually after the air receiver )
Control modes of operation
The compressor can operate in three bas modes:

- LOAD – The compressor is running and supply compressed air to the air
system.
- UNLOAD – The compressor is running but do not supply compressed air .
- STANDBY – The compressor is not running and waiting to restart
automatically when compressed air will be needed.
- The transfer between the three operating modes is controlled by a pressure
switch (pressostat )
- The pressure switch operate the compressor between two working pressure:
P2 – Max allowed working pressure
P1 – Min allowed working pressure
- When the pressure reaches P2 – the p.switch change the working mode to –
"Unload"
- When the pressure reaches P1 – the pressure switch change the working mode
to "Load"
- If at "Unload" More then a set time ( usually 4 minutes) The compressor enter
"Standby" mode, and the white "Standby" light illuminate in the operation switch

Part E – Maintenance

1. General
Maintenance must be performed according to the compressor running hours. The purpose of
such maintenance is:
- to insure safe operation
- To insure "free of failures" operation
- To insure long life of the compressor
- To insure stable high performance of the compressor
- Keeping the recommended maintenance schedule will insure long life, high
performance operation.

Screw compressor / Obligate maintenance schedule

- 500 working hours after the installation first maintenance operation is required

Note:
- Compressor that works 8 hours' 5 days weekly will work 2000 hours in one year
- It is recommended to perform maintenance at least once a year
