OEDOLAB REPORTS
You own the software OedoLab Reports from MATEST for processing your oedometer test
data.
We thank you for your choice and we hope that you will be satisfied.
Before using the software, we recommend that you carefully read this manual to familiarize
yourself with its handling.

1 Introduction
OedoLab Reports is a reporting software allowing you to perform calculations and to edit a
report following standards XP P94-090-1, BS 1377 part 5 and ASTM D2435-80.
1.1 Terminology
OedoLab Connect : Software guides the user through the oedometer test; it acquires the data
during the test and creates a file containing the test data. This file can be added into a project
created in OedoLab Reports.
Test file : File containing the data of settlement for each level of compression of oedometer
test. It also contains information about the test (File No., date of Test ...) and the
characteristics of the soil specimen tested (diameter, initial wet mass ...)
Project : A project is a "global" file used by OedoLab Reports to save the test file, but also
the results of calculations and the various information entered by the user (Classification,
particle size analysis ...).

Before running OedoLab Reports be sure to configure your PC to work with dot as
decimal separator. You can configure the decimal separator by accessing the International
Settings dialog in Control Panel.

Inconsistent values detected by the software are highlighted in orange in the table "Time
(min) Settlements (mm)".

When data from a test are added and modified in a project, only the changes are saved in
the project. The test file itself remains intact, thereby, allowing you to restore the original data
if needed.
All these data are additional information on the sample, it is possible to include them or
not, when editing the report.

5 Software Use
In the test window, click on , a dialog box appears allowing you to select the name and
location under which will be saved the new test file.
Once the newly test file is created, the software displays directly the test settings window
from which it is possible to enter information about the test and the characteristics of the
tested sample.

The tab « forecast workload » allows to modify load's and unload's step.
Once the settings are entered, clicking on , the software returns to the manual entry
window.
- 13 -
OedoLab Reports (10/06/2015)
The data must be entered by level of compression and transferred to an test file in the order of
their application, via the button .
• By manual input, writing directly on the table "Time (min) Settlements (mm)" or
copy/paste.
• By importing data from an external element (a USB key in which has been stored data
from a CyberPlus, for example) via the button .
Once all the data of levels of compression are transferred to the test file, the latter is ready to
be used in a project for processing test data.

In the project window, click on , a dialog box appears allowing you to select the name and
location under which will be saved the new project.
When the new project is created, the software displays directly the project management
window from which you can select the test data file that will be integrated in the project.

OedoLab Reports (10/06/2015)
In the project management window, click on , a dialog box appears allowing you to select
the test file that will be the basis for the new project.
Once the test file is selected, the software automatically calculates tangents D1 with the
method selected (Taylor or Casagrande).
In addition, several calculations from the characteristics of the sample are made (void ratio,
water content, densities, ...).
All data, information and calculations for each level of compression can be found in the three
tabs (test information, sample specifications and test data).
- 16 -
OedoLab Reports (10/06/2015)
When loading data from the test, the software identifies any data that may present
inconsistencies and orange highlights them in the table "Time (min) Settlements (mm)".
It is possible to correct the data in the table "Time (min) Settlements (mm)". The software
recalculates tangent D1 and straight line D2 according to new data.
In all cases, only the project is changed, the test file itself remains intact, thereby,
allowing restoring of original data if necessary.
By clicking on , the software returns to the test window and performs overall calculations
on all levels of compression (curve of compressibility, compression ratio, ...).
The software draws the compressibility curve as well as tangents AB, DL and MN, allowing
performing the calculations required by the standard (compression ratio, swelling ratio, ...).

The test report can be printed by clicking on , once calculations made and various
additional information entered.
By entering data in the table "Opening (mm) Passing (%)", the software directly draws the
grading curve.
All information entered here can be added to the test report by checking the "Add project
information" in the print window.
Depending on the selected standard in the software settings, OedoLab Reports selects or not
to add project information to the report. However, it is possible to add/remove this
information by checking/unchecking the appropriate box.

6 Tips
6.1 Tables
When you right click on a table, a pop-up menu appears with the available options (Copy or
Copy/Paste/Clear) allowing to easily modify or retrieve data from the table.
With a software kind like "PDF creator", it is possible to save the test report in PDF format by
selecting the printer "PDFCreator" in the drop down "Printer Selection" menu.
