MS Word EXERCISES

Creating Tables
Objectives:

1. Learn to create tables.


2. Demonstrates how to add borders and shading to text.
3. Follow instructions on how to create tables.

HOW TO CREATE TABLE

 Put insertion point/cursor where you want to create table.


 Click Insert on the menu bar, then click Table button.
 You can point/highlight the number of rows and columns you want to create.
or Click Insert Table that opens Insert Table dialogue box.
 In the Insert Table dialogue box, enter the number of rows and columns you want.
 Click OK to create the table.

TO ENTER TEXT AND MOVE AROUND THE TABLE.

 Click the cell where you want to enter text.


 Type the cell entry, and a long text entry will automatically wrap within the cell. To type a new paragraph within
the same cell, press enter key, then type the text.
 Press Tab key or the arrows keys to move to the other cells.

MERGING TWO OR MORE CELLS INTO A SINGLE CELL

 Select/highlight the cells you want to combine.


 Right Click on the selected cells.
 Choose Merge cells.

HOW TO RESIZE THE COLUMNS AND ROWS


 On the Ruler, Click and Drag the left/right margin of the column you want to resize.

 On the Ruler, Click and Drag the lower/upper margin of the row you want to resize.

TO FORMAT A TBALE AUTOMATICALLY

 Put the cursor inside the table.


 Design toolbar in the Table Tools will automatically enable.
 Click on the arrow down icon or chevron to select your desired table design.

Activity Output:

 Create a weekly class schedule.


 Save using the filename WeeklyClass.
TEXT AND GRAPHICS MANIPULATION

Objectives:

1. Learn to manipulate graphics within a text.


2. Perform different text and graphics manipulation to enhance a document.

HOW TO INSERT A WORD ART

 Click Insert in the menu bar.


 Click the WordArt icon and choose the desired style for your text.

 Click on the statement “Your text here”, then type your text.
 To move your graphics freely around the workspace, click the Wrap Text icon.
 Choose your desired wrapping options.

TO ADD MORE FORMATTING TO TEXT STYLES

 Click Format, in the WordArt styles group click Text Effects.

TO RESIZE THE TEXT TO YOUR DESIRED SIZE

 Click Format, then click Text Effects.


 Click Transform, then click the first option Square.
TO CUSTOMIZE SHAPE FILL AND OUTLINE COLOR

 Select the text by clicking on


the border of the text.
 Click the dropdown button to
choose your desired color.
 Do the same to shape outline.
 Explore other options in the
toolbars to see more options.

HOW TO INSERT IMAGE/S OR GRAPHICS

1) Click Insert, then click Pictures on the toolbar. A


dialogue box of Picture folder will open.
a) Click on the image you want to insert, then click
Insert.

2) Another way is to Select the image from the Pictures


folder.
a) Right click, then click Copy.
b) Open the file where you want to put the image and click Paste.
c) To move/change the position of the image, choose other wrapping options.

Activity Output: (1 page output only)

PAPER SIZE, ORIENTATION, AND PRINTING

HOW TO CHANGE PAPER SIZE

 Click Layout on the menu bar.


 Click on Size, then click/choose the paper size you intend to use.
Note: Short bondppaper size is 8.5” x 11” while Long bondpaper size is
8.5” x 13”.
 If you couldn’t find the size you want in the options, click More Paper Sizes
and Page Setup dialogue box will open.
 Type the dimensions of the
paper size you intend to use.
 Click OK.

HOW TO CHANGE DOCUMENT MARGINS


 Click Layout on the menu bar.
 The Normal margin or default margin in a document is 1inch or 1”” on all sides.
If you wish to change this, choose from other options.
 If you cannot find the measure that you want, click Custom Margins… to open
the Page Setup dialogue box.
 Type the margins you want to use for
the Top, Bottom, Left and Right side of
your document.
 Click OK.

HOW TO USE TEXT BOX


 Click Insert on the menu bar.
 Click Text Box icon.
 Click Simple Text Box. A text box will appear in your document. Press
Backspace to delete the default text and type the text you want to input.
o Another option is to click Draw Text box.
o You mouse pointer will change into “ ”.
o Click and drag your mouse pointer to create a blank text box.
o Type your text inside the text box.
TO CHANGE OR REMOVE BACKGROUND COLOR OF TEXT BOX
 Click Shape Fill drop down menu and click on your desired
color.
 Click No Fill to remove the background color.

TO CHANGE OR REMOVE BACKGROUND COLOR OF TEXT BOX

 Click Shape Outline drop down menu and click on your


desired color.
 Click No Fill to remove the outline.
 To change the thickness of the outline,
click on Weight and click the desired thickness of your
outline.

TO ADD MORE EFFECTS OR FORMATTING ON YOUR GRAPHICS

 Click Shape Effects.


 Explore on the different options and see what happens. Choose
your desired effects on your graphics.
 Click Undo button if you want to return your graphics to its
normal state.

HOW TO PRINT A DOCUMENT


 Click File on the menu bar and click Print or press
simultaneously Ctrl + P.
 Make sure that printer name is the same to the printer connected to your computer and marked Online.
 When printing multiple copies, type the number of copies you will print.
 If you are not going to print the whole document, type the page that you will print only. If you are printing
multiple pages, separate each page with a comma.
 What you see in Preview pane will be the outcome of your document.
 Click Print.
Objectives:

1. To create a bulleted list.


2. To create numbered list and multilevel list.

b. Click the chevron on the Bullets button and choose any bullet style you like. Things I want:

Activity 3: Multilevel list 3. Leyte

a. Type the document. Write your own personal data information.


b. Click Multilevel List button. In the library, choose this button.
c. Save your file using the filename “Myself”.
Objectives:

1. To create and familiarize oneself with different tools to create columns and tables.
2. To follow instructions on how to create tables.

Activity 1: Column (whole document)

a. Open your file “fontsuper” from your folder.


b. Click Layout menu.
c. Click Columns. Choose “Two” or the number of columns you will use for your document.

Activity 2: Column (selected text)

a. Type the document “Book of Psalms”


b. After typing all the text, highlight from first stanza up to the last stanza.
c. Click Layout menu. Click Columns. Choose Two.
d. Select your own font style. Set font size of the title into 16pt, and the rest of
the text as 12pt.
e. Save file as “psalms”
