B. Presentation

The wires and cables are the main objects or

things that is being used in order to install a
particular electrical system. So let’s define the
meaning of Wire and Cable.

- Wires is used as the path of electric

current. Wires are those conductors
3.26mm or No. 8AWG and smaller in
sizes.
- Cable is also used as the path of electric
current. Cables are usually 6 mm or No.
10AWG.

- So how would you differentiate the two?

Since wires are not a new term to all of you, I will
present two pictures.

- What are these? That’s correct!

-The wires are smaller

wires twisted to form a metallic string

- The solid wire consists only of single

conductor. -Okay sir.
Very good!
Remember that electric current flows in any
conductor. Wires and cables are conductors. An
electric circuit is a closed path of electrons -Sir those are the

a load by conductors.

In a complete circuit, it has different

components. In this simple illustration, let us
name the different parts of it.

-Okay sir, got it.

- What is the four components used in this
simple schematic diagram?

Also remember that correct sizes of wires are

very important. Since back then, you’ve

encountered the topic for correct sizes that are
intended to lighting circuit and for convenience
outlet.

- For a lighting circuit, what wire number

is right for it?
That’s correct!
- How about for convenience outlet?
-Load, Source or Battery,
Switch, and wires.
- But why we need to use the correct wire
size to it?
There are also laws and codes governing with the
Electrical and Building in wiring installation. You
need to take note with these, students because
those are essential as an electrical student. Very good!
