CONSTITUTIONS AND BY LAWS

ARTICLE 1: NAME

Section 1. The organization shall be called the “Assumption Math Majors Society.”

The club may be referred to by the shorter term: “AMMS”

ARTICLE 2: OBJECTIVES

Section 1. To support the general interests of club members and the student body at
large.

Section 2. To encourage the study and appreciation of Mathematics.

Section 3. To render Math tutorials to students who are having difficulties in their Math
subjects.

Section 4. To engage in extra-curricular Mathematical-related activities such as


preparation and participation in Mathematical contests as well as visits to points of
significance and attendance of professional seminars, tours, foster a means of support
and interaction among students interested in Mathematics.

ARTICLE 3: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. All students duly enrolled in the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in
Mathematics (Education program) of Assumption College of Davao will automatically be
a bona fide member of the organization.

Section 2. This club is also open to any student of Assumption College of Davao who
shows interests in Mathematics.

Section 3. Any student who wishes to join this club must submit an application form. A
P50.00 membership fee will be collected.

Section 4. Old members are required to submit their renewal form to pay a fee of
P30.00.
Section 5. A person shall cease to be a member, and lose all privileges of membership.

Section 5. 1. Upon the first general assembly of the club in the year, if their
membership has not been renewed.

Sections 5. 2. Upon being expelled.

Section 5. 3. Upon their death.

ARTICLE 4: BILL OF RIGHTS

Section 1. Active members have a right to suffrage.

Section 2. Members have the right to be informed of all activities of the club.

Section 3. Members have the right to participate fully and freely in all meetings of the
club.

Section 4. Members have the right to propose matters that he/she believes that may
help in the improvement of the club and its activities.

Section 5. Members have the right to receive trainings and tutorials.

ARTICLE 5: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS

Section 1. Obey and uphold the Constitutions and By-Laws of the club.

Section 2. She/he shall attend the General Assembly meetings and all the meetings of
the club, with corresponds 20 points for every general meeting. However for working
students they are all excused in the said sanctions, provided with an acceptable and
valid reason.

Section 3. She/he shall support all the activities of the club.

ARTICLE 6: EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Section 1. The governing body of the club shall be known as the executive council. This
body has the power to represent all AMMS members and to pass resolutions affecting
any aspect of the club.

Section 2. All executives must be members of the club.

Section 3. The executive council contains the following positions:

3. 1. 1. The President is the Head of the Executive officers of
Assumption Math Majors Society (AMMS) and the one who preside over the meeting.

3. 1. 2. The President shall be a member in good standing. The


President shall represent the club in appropriate campus activities.

3. 1. 3. The President shall assist the Moderator in coordination,


organization and development of Club activities. This may include appointment of
committees and committee members.

3. 1. 4. The President shall provide leadership to the club.

Section 3. 2. Vice President:

3. 2. 1. The Internal Vice-President shall assume the functions of


the chairman in case of absence, temporary incapacity, resignation, or impeachment,
and to perform some other functions as the chairman may delegate them. The Vice-
President shall assist the President in his/her duties.

3. 2. 2. The External Vice-President shall assume responsibilities of


the President upon his/her absence. The External Vice-President shall be responsible
for any external transactions such as sponsoring and dealing with other people for the
club activities purposes.

3. 3. 1. The Secretary shall be responsible for recording the


minutes of each meeting, distributing them to the members, and keeping a record of
club activities.

Section 3. 4. Treasurer:

3. 4. 1. The treasurer will be responsible for collecting dues,


depositing funds, keeping a record of club financial transactions and reporting club
meeting.

Section 3. 5. Auditor:

3. 5. 1. The auditor safeguards the assets of the organization,


check the inability the reliability of its financial data, periodically audit the book of
accounts of the Treasurer and certify the financial report of the Treasurer as to its
correctness.

Section 3. 6. P.I.O:

3. 6. 1. The P.I.O of the Public Information Officer will be


responsible for public information dissemination. He/she will be informing the club
members and officers for any updates regarding the club activities and duties.
Section 3. 7. Business Manager:

3. 7. 1. The business Manager will be responsible for purchasing of


all faculties and materials needed in the activity of the organization. He/she take charge
of the program activities that shall be undertaken by the organization.

Section 4. The position of the President must be taken by a math major. In the absence
of a math major in the club, members from the other programs may be elected as the
president.

Section 5. The Executive Council shall also contain non-voting positions which may be
held by a voting executive and are to be created or altered on an annual basis by the
executive council. Examples of such positions would be heads of the committees.

ARTICLE VII: MEETINGS AND CONVECTIONS

Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held at least thrice a semester at such day, time,
and places as they may respectively agree time to time.

Section 2. Special meetings or Emergency Meetings for special purposes of the


organization may be called any time by the President or the presiding officer.

Section 3. The quorum is composed of 50% plus one of all its members of the
executive officers.

ARTICLE VIII: THE MODERATOR

Section 1. The moderator of the organization shall have the following qualifications:

a. Shall have a residence of at least two (2) years in the college prior his/her
recommendation.

b. Had knowledge of the proceeding of the organization.

Section 2. The moderator shall guide the officers in their deliberation in accordance
with the guidelines of the College.

ARTICLE IX: ACCOUNTABILITY OF OFFICERS

Section 1. The AMMS officers as so provided by this Constitution involve the students’
trust. Student officers must serve with the highest degree of responsibility, integrity,
loyalty, efficiency, and must lead a modest life.

Section 2. The officers of this organization shall be removed from office by


impeachment or conviction for culpable violation of this Constitution and the school’s
rules and regulations.
ARTICLE X: AMMENDMENTS AND REVISIONS

Section 1. Any member may propose amendments or modification of the constitution


and bylaws and must be submitted in writing to the Campus Club Organization.

Section 2. Two-third (2/30 votes of all executive officers shall be necessary to pass the
proposed amendments or revision.

Section 3. Any amendments or revision of this constitution shall be valid when ratified
by the majority votes cast in a plebiscite, will shall be held not earlier than fifteen (15)
days and not later than thirty (30) days after the approval of such amendments.

Section 4. The proposed amendments to, or revision of, the constitution shall take
effect on the date that it had been duly ratified by the plebiscite held for purpose.

ARTICLE XI: TRANSISTORY PROVISION

Section 1. The constitution shall be ratified by a majority vote of the members of


Assumption Math Majors Society (AMMS).

Section 2. This constitution shall take effect immediately upon its ratification.

PASSED, RATIFIED, AND APPROVED thru plebiscite by the plurality votes cast by the
Assumption Math Majors Society (AMMS) officers and members last (July 02, 2014) at
Assumption College of Davao.
