DAILY LESSON Teacher HAZEL R. VELOSO Learning Areas PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2

LOG Teaching Dates & Time September 5, and 7, 2022 Quarter 1st of S.Y. 2022-2023

Date: Week 2 Day 1 Day 2

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the week, the students are expected to:
A. Content Standard Demonstrate the understanding of the kinds of quantitative research and the nature of variables.
B. Performance standard The learners are able to decide on suitable quantitative research in different areas of interest
C. Learning Competencies/ The learners are able to describe the kinds of quantitative research and differentiate variables and their uses. (CS_RS12-Ia-c-3)
Objectives (Write the LC Code
for each)
II. CONTENT VARIABLES KINDS OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Curriculum guide
2. Teacher’s Guide pages
3. Learner’s materials pages Practical Research 2 by E. Baraceros Practical Research 2 by E. Baraceros
4. Additional Materials from Learning
Resource (LR) portal

B. Other Learning Resources

IV. PROCEDURES
ACTIVITY: SKIT ACTIVITY 4: REVIEW
The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will present a skit showing the A representative per group will answer the following questions. The group with the most number of
cause and effect relationship of the following situations: correct answers wins the game.
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Presenting 1. absenteeism 1. Research characteristic in which it must deal with facts, not opinion
the new lesson 2. heavy rain 2. It is a scientific, experimental or inductive manner of thinking
3. poverty 3. Asking open-ended questions to probe or investigate
4. technology 4. Data analysis technique used in quantitative research is thematic and codal
5. Quantitative research prefers using random sampling method
Discussion of the skit presented. From our previous lessons, what do you remember about Quantitative Research?
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

C. Presenting examples/instances of the lesson VARIABLES-changing qualities or characteristics of persons or things involved in your . Quantitative Research
research study -the researcher progresses logically through a series of steps through a pre- specified plan of
-age, gender, intelligences, ideas, achievements, confidence and so on action
-have different or varying values in relation to time and situation Quantitative Researchers
Gather empirical evidence that is rooted in objective reality and gathered directly or
indirectly through senses
The evidence for a study is gather according to the established plan of structured instruments
TWO BASIC TYPES OF VARIABLES TYPES OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
1. Independent--Those that cause changes in the subject
1. SURVEY RESEARCH
--the condition or treatment applied to the experimental group which is under
the control, manipulation or direction of the experimenter -uses interviews, questionnaires, and sampling to get a series of behaviors with intense precision.

2. Dependent -Those that bear or manifest the effects caused by the 2. CORRELATIONAL RESEARCH
independent variables
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing -Test for the relationship between variables.
new
skills #1 -establish what the effect of one on the other might be and how that affects the relationship

3. CAUSAL-COMPARATIVE

RESEARCH

-looks to uncover cause and effect relationship

-tries to identify how the different groups are affected by the same circumstance

EXTRANEOUS VARIABLE QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH DESIGNS: EXPERIMENTAL

One, two or more extra variables that may carry out an impact on the relationship
between dependent and independent variables as you carry out your research -treats or deals with the object or subject of the research in a definite or exact manner and
E. Discussing new concepts
and Practicing new determines the extent or influence of the treatment on the object/subject, then discover the
PARTICIPANT VARIABLES causes of such effects
skills #2
- mood, emotions or intelligence of the
subject SITUATIONAL VARIABLES
Nature of the place: smelly, chilly, hot, cold, spacious, etc.
ACTIVITY 3: GROUP WORK ACTIVITY 4: GROUP WORK
From your approved research topic, identify the dependent and independent variables From the abstracts of researches you gathered in your homework
F. Developing mastery
( Leads to Formative Assessment 3) and explain your work in class. .

Video will be shown in class regarding the domino effect of doing good things What do you QUANTIFY mostly in your life?
G. Finding Practical
applications of Concepts
and skills in daily living

What are variables? Differentiate QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE RESEARCH.

H. Making generalizations and
Abstractions about the lesson
I. Evaluating learning Quiz . Checking of Group Work
Determine the dependent and independent variable.
1. You want to measure the effect of different amounts of oxygen on the rate
of the yeast growth.
2. An entomologist (bug scientist) wants to determine if temperature changes the
number of times a cricket chirps.
You want to see if playing music makes students be more focused in studying.

J. Additional activities for application or Homework: Short bond paper Homework: Short bondpaper
remediation Research a sample Quantitative Research. Copy its ABSTRACT Research about non-experimental research.
V. REMARKS Practical Research 2 is taken two (2) times a week by the learners with two(2) hours per meeting

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 50 out 54 learners 53 out of 54 learners
80% in the evaluation

B. No. of learners who require additional activities 0

for remediation.

C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners

who have caught up the with the lesson.

D. No. of learners who continue to require

remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Group Discussion, they can participate to the topic Group Discussion, they can participate to the topic
Why did these work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter which my The student need to read more The student need to read more
principal or supervisor can help me solve?

G. What innovation or localized materials did I SLM SLM

use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
