What is universally valuable to all of us.
What is conducive to our individual, collective happiness and
prosperity in a sustainable way.
• It enables us to be in harmony within ourselves, with other
human beings and with rest of nature at large. Need for Value Education: • Enables us to understand ‘what is valuable’ for human happiness is called ‘VALUE EDUCATION’.
• The value of any unit in this existence is its participation in the
larger order of which it is a part
e.g. Value of a pen is that it can write. Here writing is the
participation of the pen in the bigger order in which pen, paper, human being, all are present. Need for Value Education 1. Correct identification of our aspirations

with the excellence of requisite professional skills is required. Basic Guidelines for Value Education 1. Universal - applicable to all human beings 2. Rational - not based on blind beliefs. 3. Natural and Verifiable - it is acceptable in a natural manner to all human beings. 4. All Encompassing ---------- not merely an academic exercise. ---------- aimed at transforming our consciousness and living. ---------- covers all dimensions of our living - thought, behaviour, work and understanding; as well as all levels - individual, family, society and nature. 5. Leading to Harmony Content of Value Education Value of any unit based on Scope of the study • its participation • All dimensions -- thought e. g. -- behaviour -------- pen is to write -- work --------an eye for seeing -- relation ------- vegetable plant gives • All levels nutrition -- individual -- family -- society -- nature The Process of Value Education The process of value education has to be that of self Exploration, and not giving sermons or telling dos and don’ts. It is process of dialogue between ‘What you are’ and ‘What you really want to be’. • It is a process of knowing oneself and through that knowing entire existence. • It is a process of recognizing one’s relation with every unit in existence and fulfilling it. This process of self exploration helps you to be in harmony within yourself and in harmony with everything around. • Self-exploration: naturally acceptable to us and not just imposed externally. • verifying the proposals through experiential validation, i.e. by living according to them. • Experiential validation will ascertain that when we live our life on the basis of this education, our living will be fulfilling to us as well as our surroundings. • To initiate a transformation in our understanding in our consciousness and our living. • The process of value education adopted: • Self-exploration which includes two things: • Verification at the level of natural acceptance and • Experiential validation in living. Self-exploration as the Process for Value Education What is Self-exploration? What is its Purpose? 1. It is a process of dialogue between “what you are” and “what you really want to be”. 2. It is a process of self-evolution through self-investigation. 3. It is a process of knowing oneself and through that, knowing the entire existence. 4. It is a process of recognizing one’s relationship with every unit in existence and fulfilling it. 5. It is a process of knowing human conduct, human character and living accordingly. 6. It is a process of being in harmony in oneself and in harmony with entire existence. 7. It is a process of identifying our Innateness (Swatva) and moving towards Self- organization (Swatantratã) and Self-expression (Swarãjya).
