CHAPTER 1

Rationale

Pastillas is one of the best treats in the Philippines. It is

also called Pastillas de leche or pastiyema.Pastillas has various

versions today, it comes with ube, chocolate, cheese, and etc.

However the researchers suggested to have cheese inside for

more unique taste, combining the sweetness and saltiness of the

Pastillas is considered a part of the Filipino culture. This

product originated in San Miguel Bulacan, Philippines. Their

pastillas making process became a trend that spread to other

regions of the Philippines. Thus, resulting in pastillas becoming

part of the Filipino food culture. The process of making pastillas is

very simple, it includes mixing powdered milk, powdered sugar,

and condensed milk, then from the dough and add any choosen

flavor powder and roll it, next is to form the mixture in to a bite size

and then and roll it on sugar. Pastillas making and selling can be

found in every region in the Philippines as it is very easy to make

and a very sought after delicacy.According to the study of Klhea

Moalyde a student in bestlink College of the Philippines conducted


on year 2019 shows that pastillas is one of the most famous

delicacies in the Philippines.Many people love pastillas because it

is very easy to acquire, people can eat it anywhere. With its well

blended flavor, aroma and sweetness people will love and enjoy

it.The researchers concluded that pastillas is very demanding in

The primary ingredient of pastillas is sugar. According to

Franziska Buttgereit (2021)shows that excessive consumption of

sugar had negative effects on the body and could trigger a lot of

unhealthy circumstances. Attention to sugar intake must be the

number one priority of every person. However the author also

stated that sugar said to be the direct source of energy vital to

human needs. Sugar also produce seratonin,a happy hormone to

boost every person mood. This could help students to reward

themselves from tiring and dull moments in their day.

In Region 8 which the Islands of both Samar and Leyte, the

pastillas culture can also be found. But unlike other places there

are no big corporation that makes pastillas, almost pastillas maker

are small time business which sells their food to sari-sari store for

retail. Others also make pastillas and sell them directly to the

customers most offers in school or other public places. The

researchers conducted a study about how pastillas could meet the

needs of students when it comes to finding affordable and healthy

snacks St.Mary’s College of Borongan students desire.

pastillas or milk candies as its main product. Our goal is to make this

sweet delicacy known again in the minds of young people. The target

market of our corporation is primarily the students of St. Mary’s College of

Borongan.

Business Location and Acceptability

Sweet dreams pastillas corporation is solely based on St Mary’s

College of Borongan as of now. Which is located at Borongan City,

Eastern Samar. From Borongan City landmark which is the city Hall, you

can ride a local tricycle as a public transport to E. Cinco Street with a fare

of 10 php where St. Mary’s College of Borongan is located.

Service Description

Our business offers both whole sale and retail to our customer. We

can sell packs of pastillas or by small quantities. It all depends on the

customer preferences.

As stated in our target market our customers are students of

St.Mary’s College of Borongan.The number of junior high school students

are 323,while the senior high school is 216,and the faculty and staffs are

numbered at the location of our business is very advantageous to us

because it is a school located in a city which ensures that people are

always present everyday.

The basic aim of the business is to make benefit or profit. To

achieve this objective,an ideal showcasing strategy or the marketing

strategies is fundamental. Our business is located in E Cinco Street

Borongan City Specifically Which ensures that we have a lot of target

customers. This location is advantageous for us because it is located near

the boulevard which attracts more people.

Behavioral segmentation

Our target market/buyers are mostly students who’s age are

between 12-18 years old. So their preferences are trendy products that

are colorful and sweets.

Every consumers had different preferences. Curiosity makes them

buy the products. They could be friend,family,or people who choose to

support small businesses.

Pastiillas is a delicacy that is adored all over the Philippines and

The new generation seems to forget the existence of pastillas that

fulfilled the older generations childhood. The owners as well aiming to

reintroduce the product which is pastillas to the new generations that

children will reminisce even amazed of how it taste.

TECHNICAL ASPECT

In this aspect, it is necessary to plan and study the technical

process very carefully to provide satisfactory to consumers.

Office Location and Description

The proposed location is located in Cinco street,Borongan City,

Eastern Samar. The office itself is small and has only 3 major rooms. The

first room is called the meeting room, it is where we plan our business

operations and take rests between shifts. The second room is our

production room, this is intended for making our product which is the

sweet dreams pastillas.The third room is the packaging and transactions

room.it is where we pack and transact to the consumers. The Owners

proposed this because of the following reason:

•Accessible-All of the owners can gather at St. Mary’s College of

Borongan for planning and discussions.

•Target market-The target market is on site.


Operating procedure

The operation is very simple,first,the people designated for

production will buy ingredients.Next,mixing of ingredients done by the

staff in charge. This includes the mixing,cutting,measuring,and adding

flavors to the pastillas.Lastly,the packaging led by the in charge staff as

well. The owners will operate at 9:30-10:00 and 12:00-1:00 pm every

weekdays, during the Marians health break and lunch break. Business

operating schedule are only this time due to the reason that we do not

want to waste the class hours of students and interrupt the discussions of

teachers everyday.
Waste management

Pastillas only acquire small amount of waste specifically the

packaging. The firm owners will ensure and make every effort to preserve

cleanliness and sustainable development. Waste materials will be

appropriately segregated. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable

including the n3rs will be conducted by the researchers. Full compliance

with environmental rules will be ensured.
