F. Overview Rationale

The Brigada Eskwela initiative has changed over the years from a one-week cleaning
and beautification project to a joyful gathering of students, teachers, school administrators,
parents, community members, local government officials, non-government organizations,
church groups, and the private sector. It has also grown to be one of DepEd's key programs for
encouraging local communities to support public schools and take part in a national campaign
to enhance Philippine basic education. This was made possible by the diligence and tenacity of
school administrators who sought out creative strategies to get kids to school, keep them there,
and guarantee that they would learn. If it weren't for the capable leadership in our public
schools, Brigada Eskwela would not be what it is today.

This year's theme, "Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral," is

enclosed in DepEd Order No. 62, series of 2022, Brigada Eskwela 2022 Implementing
Guidelines toward a better and safe learning environment.

Trees bring diverse groups of people. Tree plantings provide an opportunity for school-
community involvement and empowerment that improves the quality of life in our
neighborhoods. All culture, ages, and genders have an important role to play at a tree planting
event. That is why Brigada Eskwela 2022: “My Mangrove Tree Planting Project” is initiated in
order to unite the school and community through planting mangrove trees and implement
effectively the government programs and school’s mission in providing a safe and motivating
learning environment and the active engagement of the family, community and other
stakeholders for developing life-long learners.
G. Goals and Scope
