Rationale
The Philippines is exposed to high incidents of hazards such as tropical storms, tsunamis,
earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and droughts due to its geological location. Topical
storms or typhoon accompanied by heavy rain and/or strong winds results in floods and storm
surges. In the past years, people have experienced a lot of disasters. One of these are the outbreak
of COVID-19 pandemic and the typhoon Odette that up until now have been affecting a lot of
Disasters result from the recurring of events that expose the physical and social
weaknesses of all society. When disaster comes, being prepared is very crucial so that we can
lessen the impact or the effect of it in society, economy, and especially in physical, mental, and
emotional state of a person. As a response, civilizations carry out actions and develop
technologies to defend themselves from these threats. Disaster preparedness has been identified
with planning, resource identification, warning systems, training and simulations, and other pre-
disaster actions intended to improve the safety and effectiveness of community response to
Pardo National High School are one of the schools that has been affected and greatly
damaged by the recently disaster. Despite disasters being extremely disruptive to campus life and
affecting students both mentally and physically, students are one of the most overlooked sub-
groups in the community following a disaster. It is, therefore, crucial for Disaster Risk Reduction
(DRR) to be implemented in schools, where disaster preparedness, response , and mitigation
strategies and programs are still lacking even though disaster awareness has increased.
Moreover, this study intends to the preparedness level of students in pardo National High
School to know the basics of survival so that we can lessen the impact of the disaster. Being
prepared is essential in reducing the impact caused by a disaster. The students of Pardo national
High School shuld know the basics in survival to overcome and lessen the impact caused by a
disaster.
THE PROBLEM
This study aims to assess the level of preparedness of the students in Pardo National
High School.

This study focuses on the disaster preparedness level of the students in Pardo National
High School located at A. Gabuya Street Poblacion Pardo Cebu City. The main goal is to know
the level preparedness of the students in Pardo National High School when there is a disaster.
Whether the students’ behaviour are in the good condition before during, and after a disaster.
The researchers prepared a survey with fifteen (15) questions that relates to the research topic to
be given and answered by the respondents. The respondents are five (5) random students either
male and female in every grade level that corresponds to a total of thirty (30) respondents
altogether.
This study is deemed significant and highly contributes to the development of disaster
readiness risk reduction and disaster preparedness/ awareness of Pardo National High School
Students. Likewise, this study is to the department and in the school in general, with the
Students. This may help those students gain new knowledge and prepare for potential disasters,
Future Researchers. This may guide those who are interested or planning to conduct a research
in this field of study as it may serve as their reference for their study not only for the Pardo
National High School Students but also for other students in other schools.
Faculty. The findings of this study may help the education professors on deciding things and
planning the actions needed. It may also serve as their guide on what specific areas that needs
improvements.
Definition of Terms

Drill. It refers to physical or mental exercise aimed at perfect team facility and skill especially by
regular practice. In this study, it is necessary to know how often does Pardo National High
Survival. This refers to the state or fact of continuing to leave or exist, typically in spite of and
accident, deal , or difficult circumstances. In this study, it is important to know the survival rate
Mitigation Strategies. This refers to an action or program to reduce or eliminate the risk
