IV. PROCEDURES
-Ma’am, yesterday I learned the uses and the advantages and disadvantages of a computer.
-Ma’am, in computer we can send files, get information and stay connected with the people around
us.
-Ma’am, in computer there are viruses that will corrupt your files or even leak you important files.
And also you will spend a lot of money to buy or repair your computer.
Very good
B. Establishing a purpose for the ACTIVITY: ENCODING THE JUMBLE
lesson The teacher will show a set of bar code in a PowerPoint presentation. The class will be group into 5
groups consist of 8 members. Each group will encode the bar code in ¼ sheet of paper using the
given code by the teacher. After encoding the teacher will process the three components.
(Collaborative Approach)
1. ADWREARH 2. TWOASFRE 3. OLPWEREAP
HARD WARE SOFTWARE PEOPLEWARE
C. Presenting examples/ ACTIVITY: NOW SHOWING
instances of the new lesson The teacher will present a video clip about components of computer system and the students will
be sharing their ideas. (Reflective Approach)
Class, I have a video clip about computer, please pay attention and after that I will ask a question
Afterwards, the teacher will ask “What did you observed about the video?”
Thank you, based on your observation on the video clip how computer works?
Very Good.
-Ma’am, hardware.
Good idea, hardware is refers to the physical components of a computer such as the system unit,
mouse, keyboard, monitor and scanner.
These components will instruct the computer to work? (The teacher will show the picture)
-Ma’am, software.
-Ma’am the software are Microsoft office, Photoshop and many more.
Very good. Software is the instructions that make the computer works like Microsoft Windows for
Operating System and Microsoft Office is an example of Application System.
Very good, people ware is the one who manipulate the computer to works.
E. Discussing new concepts and ACTIVITY: RAISE ME UP
practicing new skills #2 The class will be divided into 5 groups consists of 8 members. Each group will have a placard given by
(Leads to Formative the teacher. The teacher will show a picture of the components and students will raise their placard.
Assessment 2) Each group have different placard. A placard for Input devices, Output devices and Storage devices.
(Collaborative Approach)
The hardware has three classifications. These are the input, output and storage devices.
Input devices are the reason why the computer works. It commands the computer what to do.
What are the examples of input devices? (Three student will raise the placard, each group members
have different placard)
Ok, what is the function of keyboard?
-Ma’am it is a device that enter the information into a computer.
Very Good. What is mouse?
-Ma’am the one that points out and click.
Good, Mouse is one of the main ways to control your computer. It needs to be flat on a surface with the
end with the buttons pointing towards the computer.
Very Good, Most mouse design have three buttons, the left button to click on, and the right button to
show commands and lastly the wheel use to scroll up and down. Most people find it easier to position
the mouse to the side of the keyboard. To hold the mouse you rest your hand over it and put your index
finger on the left button and rest your thumb on the side. When you move the mouse it moves a pointer
or ‘cursor’. The cursor will change shape depending on what you are doing on the screen.
When you click once and twice the left button what will happen?
-Ma’am, it will select if you click once and if you click twice you will open that you select.
Very Good, An arrow lets you select just click once and to open a link or folder just click twice. To move
things, you need to ‘drag and drop’. Hold down the left button as you ‘drag’ the mouse along. Let go of
the button once you have positioned the item where you want it. A hand lets you open a link on the
internet just click twice the left button. An hourglass is asking you to wait while the computer does a
task.
What is Scanner?
-Ma’am it is a devices that will copy or picture the documents you put in.
Very good, It allows you to scan printed material and convert it into a file format that may be used within
the PC
Output devices shows you are doing. Send data from a computer to another device or user. What are
the examples of output devices?
(The students will raise their placard, speaker, monitor, printer)
Yes, It will enhances the value of educational and presentation products. What about monitor?
Thank you Monitor output device which displays information in pictorial form. It usually comprises the
display device. What about printer?
The storage devices is the memory of a computer which information can be store.. It has two storage,
primary storage and secondary storage. Can you give some examples of a primary storage? (The
students will raise their placard)
-Good, RAM is Random Access Accessory. The main 'working' memory used by the computer. When
the operating system loads from disk when you first switch on the computer, it is copied into RAM.
ROM Read Only Memory is a special type of memory chip that holds software that can be read but not
written to.
The secondary storage are hard drives, Cd-rom disk and DVD drives
Hard drives- are an internal higher capacity drive which also stores the operating system which runs
when you power on the computer. While the cd-rom is an optical disc which contains audio or software
data whose memory is read only and dvd drives is commonly used for storing large software
applications
Ok, let’s move on to the software. Software has two system, operating system and application system
Operating Systems will supports a computer's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks, executing
applications, and controlling peripherals
Application System any program, or group of programs, that is designed for the end user. Applications
software (also called end-user programs) include such things as database programs, word processors,
Web browsers and spreadsheets.
Can you give some examples of software?
-Ma’am windows.
-Ma’am operating system is the program in your computer once you open and application system is a
program that will run once you open the app.
Very good idea, Opearating system allows you to use the advanced features of a modern computer
without having to learn all the details of how the hardware works and application system
What about a people ware?
Very good, people ware refers to human. Computer is dependent to us, it will not works if we did
not manipulate the computer. It also refers to the role people play in technology and the
development of hardware or software. It can include various aspects of the process such as human
interaction, programming, productivity and teamworks.
1.Hardware 2.
Hardware 3. Software 4. Peopleware
Hard disk drive Speaker Operating System
-Ma’am when we are using the computer it will be easier because we will know the functions of each
components
The computer components have different functions that will help the computer works. Learning the
computer components will help us to get to know more what we are using. It will be also easier to find
what components have a defect because we already know the functions and uses.
I. Evaluating learning EVALUATION
The students will get ¼ sheet of paper and answer the following:
