I. Title of the Project

Project-SEED: Strengthen the Environment by applying Eco-friendly Development is an

awareness raising program with a tagline "PLANt your FUTURE". This project aims to promote a
great way to recycle paper by making a Plantable Seed Paper. It is made from waste materials, with
the addition of seeds that, when put in soil, will germinate and create seedlings. Also, plantable seed
paper can turn into different sizes and shapes. It is an ideal option for single-use paper, such as
greeting cards, wedding invitations, gift tags, business cards, and bookmarks.
II. Location

The proponents discovered the large amount of paper waste in Brgy. Janopol Oriental,
Tanauan City, Batangas consumed 65 kilograms of used paper per week. The picture below shows
the exact location of the place.

III. Duration and Time of Implementation

This project will be conducted every Saturday between 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. from April 16 to
May 7, 2022 with a total of 12 hours implementation.
IV. Department/College Involved

The departments below are the one who are involved in this project.
 College of Accountancy and Business Economics and International
Hospitality Management (CABEIHM) Department

V. Project Proponent(s)

In this stage it is entities or individuals organizing, proposing, or advocating a particular

carbon offset project. This project will be managed and discussed by the second-year college

VI. Cooperating Partners

To make this program possible, the proponents need cooperating partners to guarantee
the success of the project.

 SK and Barangay Officials (Sponsor) – they will be the one responsible for
helping the proponents to raise funds and to be their guide.
 Family – They will serve as the proponents' guide for ensuring that the project is
effectively implemented. They are also the ones who can help the proponents to
promote the project and inform other people about it.
 Donors – Individuals who are willingly to donate materials that will be needed in
this program and those who'll give additional fund to show their support for this
project.

VII. Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of this project proposal are the one who will benefit and gain from the
implementation of this project. These are as follows:

✔ Primary/ Direct Beneficiaries – Community

The community will be the first to benefit from this project. The benefit
will be: first this plantable project can contribute to reforestation which reduces
erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding.
Then, this project enables people to save more money since this project’s main
material is a used paper. Lastly, it can transform the way people think about trash
and it may provide a better growing environment.
✔ Secondary/Indirect Beneficiaries – Companies

In this project, companies are considered secondary beneficiaries. The

majority of businesses produce a large amount of paper waste. They can reach up
to 70% of a company's total waste. This project might provide ideas for the
company, such as a better approach to reduce paper waste. They can use it to
make seed paper, which can be used as a business card or a promotional card.
Businesses are looking for new and creative strategies to incorporate positive
changes for the environment while also increasing brand value and this project
will help them.

VIII. Project Background

The environmental impact of paper is significant, which has led to changes in industry and
behavior at both business and personal levels. With the use of modern technologies such as the
printing press and the highly mechanized harvesting of wood, disposable paper became a relatively
cheap commodity which led to high levels of consumption and waste. The rise in global
environmental issues such as air and water pollution, climate change, overflowing land pills and
clear cutting have all led to increased government regulations.

Paper usage is inevitable in all levels of schools, especially in Janopol Oriental, Tanauan
City, Batangas. In an average house 35% of trash is coming from wastes and with that the
proponents discovered that used paper can be transformed into an eco-friendly plantable paper.

Furthermore, eco-friendly plantable paper is a type of handmade paper that includes any
number of different plant seeds. The seeds themselves can still germinate and they can sprout when
the paper is planted in soil. Plantable paper is a biodegradable eco-paper that is made with post-
consumer materials and embedded with seeds. When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds
grow and the paper composts away. All that is left behind is the vegetable, fruit, herbs, or the flowers
and no wastes.

To sum it up, paper can be bought at its cheaper price and consumption of paper is
inevitable. The proponents discovered the large amount of paper waste in Brgy. Janopol Oriental,
Tanauan City, Batangas consumed 65 kilograms of used paper per week, with this the proponents
came up with the program “Project-SEED: Strengthen the Environment by applying Eco-friendly
Development". Plantable paper or seed paper is a kind of eco-friendly material with double purpose,
it can be used for invitation cards, stationery, for decorative wraps, etc. and it can be planted on a
soil to grow a plant like wildflowers, vegetables, fruits, etc. Plantable paper is a big help for the
problem of paper wastes and it can help our environment by its zero-waste and reforestation as a
purpose.
IX. Objectives

This project proposal was made for the community to promote a creative way to recycle tons
of paper waste. The proponents provided general and specific objectives when the said project was
attained.

General:

 Engage the residents through a resourceful and innovative task.

 To discuss the importance of eco-friendly development and how it will benefit them.
 To promote the importance of preserving/protecting our environment.

Specific:

 To promote a creative way to recycle paper from tons of paper waste.

 To lessen the increasing amount of paper waste in the community.
 To give them a chance to enhance their ability towards arts and make them more
creative person.
 To give an award and recognized the participation of everyone involved in this
project.
 This project aims to help people, especially small businesses to become an eco-
friendly business.

X. Strategies and Method of Implementation

The program entitled “Project-SEED: Strengthen the Environment by applying Eco-friendly

Development” is a project proposal created by second year college students in Bachelor of Science
in Management Accounting (BSMA). The organizers create conditions that support and encourage
student success. Here are the processes or the steps to make this project effective:

First, the proponents will form a project workplan which includes inputs, activities,
timeframe, responsible person, and outputs to know how the project will be implemented. It is a tool
to help the proponents to plan and properly implement the project to achieve its objectives. Then, the
proponents will choose the beneficiaries of this program by selecting the barangay that will benefit
the most in this program. To ensure the cooperation of the chosen barangay, the proponents will
announce the said project with the help of SK Officials and explain briefly what are the benefits of
this program. Next, the proponents will create a Plan of Action to visualize the flow of the program
per week and to designate the tasks of each proponent. The proponents will also make a Financial
Plan to properly allocate the budget and to estimate costs for this project in order to secure funding
from different donors. Lastly, the proponents will form a strategy on how they will work and
communicate as a team. It's important to know that they're working together to achieve shared
objectives. In case of unexpected circumstances, the proponents will prepare a backup plan to ensure
the smooth flow of the event of this project.

XIII. Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanics of the Project

Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanics of the Project plays an important role to know
whether your project is meeting its objectives. For instance, by closely tracking the project's
progress, you can quickly assess what structural changes are needed and take appropriate action.

The SIP instructor Ms. Larah Camille S. Adao will observe and monitor the flow of the
project during its implementation. The proponents will implement the project and conduct the
planned program. When the activities end, the project leader will evaluate the lapses and
shortcomings of the program in order for it to be improved in the succeeding weeks. The leaders
will provide an accomplishment report every week of its implementation while all the members
are required to produce a narrative every week to monitor their own activities and to evaluate
their experience in conducting the implemented project. Also, the proponents will create a
summary checklist containing activities that the residents should accomplish. It can also be used
in checking the progress of the residents in performing their tasks for assessment. The proponents
will record and photograph them, the accomplishments will be recorded. The proponents will
meet once a week to discuss the aspects of the project that they believe need to be improved
based on their observation.

XIV. Plans to Ensure the Sustainability of the Project.

To ensure the project's sustainability, we must comply with the weekly schedule we
made, create a checklist to ensure that all operations are completed, and maintain the program's
good flow. Maintain clear communication between both the participants and the cooperating
organizations.

 The beneficiaries did not want to continue to participate in the program.

Contingency Plan:
The facilitators will create more interactive activities to encourage and persuade the participants.
The proponents will create a plan like contests to encourage and push them to unleash their
hidden talents and to make them participate.

 The number of beneficiaries exceeds the expected number of participants and/or lack of materials.
Contingency Plan:
The facilitators must find other sponsors to finance the project or collect funds to carry out the
program. They would raise funds by soliciting donations to support the program. The facilitators
would distribute the supplies evenly among the participants to meet their needs. To fulfill
everyone's needs, the participants will share materials and foods.

 The facilitator cannot attend the program due to emergency circumstances.

Contingency Plan:
There is a possibility that one or all of the designated facilitators may be unable to attend, under
which case the organizers may seek out an alternate facilitator that is willing to engage in the
project. The other team members will take over and be able to multitask. In order for us to meet
our target and complete our project, the facilitator must schedule an alternate time and date that
the beneficiaries will be able to engage in the program.
The proponents will plan to continue the project with help of SK/Barangay Officials to
finance the program and the volunteer. To keep the program running, the proponents will conduct
a survey to assess how many participants will benefit from it and to adjust the budget plan
accordingly. Further to that, they would perform an evaluation to determine the activities they
find interesting and where they learn the most. In order for the project to continue, the organizers
will find volunteers to assist them, as well as know about their spare time in order to plan the
program accordingly. Mostly those who will continue this are the people who want to do the
same thing.
