I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are able to:
1. Identify different kinds of musical symbols and notes;
2. demonstrate understanding of concepts pertaining to rhythm and musical symbols;
3. participate actively during the discussion.

beat/beats of each notes and then demonstrate

Again, what are the five basic musical notes?
The five basic musical notes are
whole note, quarter note, half note,
eighth note and sixteenth note.

Motivation

Before we proceed to our new lesson, we will


have a game. This is called a LUCKY or
UNLUCKY: Guess the Jumbled Word.

Before we start the game, I don’t want to hear


any noise or unnecessary noise. Okay?

Yes ma’am.

This game is good for five minutes and all you


have to do is to pick a one piece of paper to the
container that I will provide. If you get a paper
that has the word UNLUCKY on it you don’t
have to answer a question but, if you get a paper
with the word LUCKY on it, you will choose a
number and then give the answer to the Yes ma’am.

I’m glad to hear it, but before we proceed, let
me ask you a question. When you heard the
word symbols, what comes in your mind? And
are the symbols important?

Yes, very good. It is important because we can


easily identify a particular image even if we (the students will answer)
don’t know the name of it but if we look at its
symbol, we can give its characteristics and
usage.

B. Learning Procedure

1. Activity

Okay now, I will divide you into two groups. I


will give you the same set of symbols and you
have to name each of them. This activity is
good for 3 minutes. If your group are done (the students are listening carefully
paste it on the board and we will find out if your and attentively)
answers are correct after our lesson.

2. Analysis

Good job, for completing the task. Now

Okay so I guess all of you already knew the


musical symbols and concept. Now I will ask you
some questions if you really already knew the
musical symbols and concepts.

and concepts. I will call 2 of you and identify the
musical symbols that we have discussed and its (Let the students identify them)
