Tablea is traditionally used to produce tsokolate, or Filipino hot


chocolate. Because it employs the entire roasted cocoa bean
rather than just cocoa powder or processed couverture, the
Filipino version of hot chocolate is substantially stronger than most
European versions.Because that is precisely what it is, tsokolate
tablea, or just plain tablea to most Filipinos, can be translated into
English as "chocolate tablets." Before being crushed into a rich,
chocolate-flavored paste, dried local cocoa beans, most frequently
from the province of Batangas, are roasted for a few hours. The
paste is molded into balls or tablets, hence the name, and then
sugar is added.
