INTRODUCTION:
WRITING 101
Most people think of themselves as grammar rebels, seeing the rules
as strict, basic, and arbitrary. But grammar is complex, not to mention
essential: Incorrect grammar can cause confusion and change the way
you’re perceived.
OBJECTIVES:
Problem Statement
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused uncertainty in the learning of the
pupils even to those that belongs to the intermediate level. The use of basic
grammar like parts of speech, clauses, punctuations, and mechanics of
language like word order, semantics, and sentence structure were not
taught to them. They cannot even construct a simple sentence to deliver
their ideas on certain topic or lesson. This bothers the teacher so much
that she decides to make an intervention to address the problem.

Project Intervention
Project GLEE (Grammar Learning and Enhancement with
Enjoyment) was initiated to thirty-five (35) Grade 4 pupils of Barualte
Elementary School to help them understand the correct use of grammar
and be able to use it correctly in writing their sentences and paragraphs
and deliver their ideas confidently and fluently in communicating with
their classmates, peers, and teachers.
The teacher used different strategies in implementing the project
like using varied activities from the English Grammar Practice Book.
Videos from YouTube were also used, and it helps a lot in making them
understand grammar. In enhancing their speaking skills on correct
grammar usage, pupils were asked to make a simple script and act it out
in class. They find it enjoyable, and everyone was interested to join in the
activity.
Here are the captured photos of the activities.
After three months utilization of the project GLEE, the teacher gave
the respondents test comprising items with correct grammar usage. 19 out
of 35 pupils or 54% of the class passed the test.

Since the 100% percent target of the intervention was not met, the
teacher will continue to use the intervention year-round until all the
respondents mastered the basics skills in grammar usage.
Attached herewith are the tools used in utilizing the project GLEE.
