IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIT

Teacher will recall the previous topic by asking Guided question:

questions to the student: 1. What is our previous lesson?

Key answer: Impending signs of volcanic eruption, what to do before, during, and after volcanic eruption.

2. What are the impending signs of volcanic eruption?

3. What we should do before volcanic eruption?
4. What we should do during volcanic eruption?
5. What we should do after volcanic eruption?

ENGAGE
Teacher will show a table of “Code Box” for the students to have guide in participating the activity called “CODE
To introduce the new topic; Teacher will ask ME”!

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Guided questions:

1. Have you ever seen a geothermal power plant? (Students answer may vary)
2. How does it function as an alternative source of energy

EXPLORE
Teacher will say:
Teacher says: In order for us to;
In order for us to;
 Define geothermal energy
 Explain how Geothermal Energy can  Identify the steps on how geothermal power plant works.
be generated from volcano  Explain the steps involved in harnessing energy from volcanoes.
 Explain how Geothermal Energy is  Give the positive and negative effects of volcano to society.
converted into electrical energy
We will be going to watch a video about how to harness energy comes from volcanoes or the Geothermal
Energy.

Guided Questions:
1. What is Geothermal Energy?
2. How Geothermal Energy Generated or work?
3. What is the process of producing electricity in a geothermal power plant? And How it works?
4. How do volcanic eruptions effect society?
5. What is harmful or beneficial or positive and negative effect of volcanic eruptions to the society?
6. Why to live near volcano?

ELABORATE
Guided Questions:
1. What are advantages and disadvantages of geothermal energy?
 The advantage of geothermal energy: This energy source is more environmentally friendly
than conventional fuel sources and it is a source of renewable energy (energy derived
from natural sources). On the other hand, the largest single disadvantage of geothermal
energy is that it is location specific (Geothermal plants need to be built in places where the
energy is accessible, which means that some areas are not able to exploit this resource.)
and the; Gases are released into the atmosphere during digging (Although geothermal
energy does not typically release greenhouse gases, there are many of these gases
stored under the Earth's surface which are released into the atmosphere during digging.
While these gases are also released into the atmosphere naturally, the rate increases
near geothermal plants.)

2. Can geothermal energy save our environment?

 Environmentally Friendly: As geothermal energy gets directly from the earth's interior; no
pollutants are emitted when obtaining it.
EXTEND
Guided Question:

1. Can geothermal energy help counteract climate change?

 Yes, like all the other sources of green energy. Geothermal plants don't produce
greenhouse gases, unlike conventional power plants that use fossil fuels like coal, oil, or
gas.

EVALUATE
