4. “E tadaki mas,” my uncle said. Jiro picked up onigiri, a rice ball, with his
hands and mashed it into his mouth. The one telling the story was the author,
Naoko Kumagai.
5. The setting of the story was in East Asia. Specifically, the setting was in
Japan because (prove your answer by extracting the text to justify your
answer) the rice ball is called “Onigri” only in Japan, the title and the
character’s name is also an indication of the setting which is in Japan.
6. Asia is known for having a closed family ties. The family tradition being
presented in the story was a little bit brutal but it shows that they close by
eating
dinner together.
7. The story shared a specific culture in the country. The culture shared was
the
way they disciplined a child.
8. In the story, Jiro was not eating properly, so Kazuya stood up and roughly
pulled Jiro. Write what Kazuya did to Jiro. Jiro was securely tucked under
Kazuya's arm as he exited through the back entrance. He grabbed a circle of
rope that was dangling from the fence by the shed with his other hand. A big
oak tree with thick, twisted branches was in the yard. He once encircled my
brother with the rope, forced him to the oak tree's trunk, and continued
looping the rope around and around.
9. Kazuya did something hard to Jiro. Write the reason why Kazuya did that
kind of punishment to Jiro. To make Jiro realize that he should eat everything
on his plate properly and to teach Jiro how to become a man.
10. Years had passed. And Jiro could not recall what happened before. Write

IV. Reflection: How the issue presented Many people were unaware of how they
affect you? offended certain people's feelings. I
thought, "What would I do if I were in his
or her shoes?" I decided to fight with
dignity because, if I do, I won't be
trampling on anyone. Everyone deserves
respect and is entitled to certain things
since they are people, not animals.
