    This alert service bulletin from MT-Propeller concerns replacement of certain blade lag screws in various MTV propeller models. A production lot of lag screws with an improper surface finish was installed from November 2013 to October 2014. This can cause single lag screws to fail under extreme loads. All propellers manufactured or overhauled in this period using these lag screws must have the lag screws replaced with an improved model during the next inspection or overhaul. Serial numbers of affected propellers and blades are listed. Replacement lag screws are available from MT-Propeller.

    Subject: Replacement of Blade Lag Screws of a certain production lot.

    Affected Propeller: a: All new MTV-5-(), MTV-9-(), MTV-12-(), MTV-14-(),


    MTV-15-(), MTV-16-(), MTV-18-(), MTV-27-()
    manufactured from Nov 2013 until October 2014
    with Lag Screw type A-983-C-85 are affected.
    b: All overhauled or repaired propellers from Nov 2013 until end of
    October 2014 with new installed lag screws during overhaul, as
    applicable.
    A production lot of lag screws with an improper surface finish was
    manufactured and installed in the propellers with serial number listed on the
    pages 2, 3 and 4.
    Serial Numbers of Single blades which were manufactured or overhauled at
    MT-Propeller or an MT-Propeller approved Service Center during this period
    with the affected lag screws are listed on page 4.

    Reason: In extreme applications with high loads single lag screws can fail.

    Accomplishment: All propellers affected by this Service Bulletin which are inspected, tear down
    inspected, repaired, or overhauled must have a lag screw replacement.

    Action: All lag screws A-983-C-85 must be replaced after disassembly of the
    propeller according to the procedures in the Composite Blade Overhaul
    Manual E-1290. A record of the replaced lag screws must be sent to
    techsupport@mt-propeller.com

    Required Material: The lag screw A-983-D-85 or A-983-E-85 is available from MT-Propeller
    Entwicklung GmbH Germany or MT-Propeller USA Inc in Florida.
