QUESTION

a) Consider the transmission line circuit in the figure 1 below. Assume lossless
lines.
i) Find the standing wave ratio on each line
ii) Find the time average power delivered to each impedance Z1 =150 Ω
and Z2 =− j 150 Ω.
b) Consider the lossless transmission configuration shown in the figure 2. The
time harmonic response has a 50 Ω impedance and frequency equal to 300
MHz. It is connected to a l= λ/2 length of transmission line. The source
initially launches 50 W on the transmission line. The characteristic
impedance of the transmission line is 50 Ω; the speed of propagation along
the transmission line is 3 ×108 m/s . The transmission line is terminated in a
load that consists of two pieces of the same transmission line connected in
parallel. One piece is shorted and has a length l1=λ . The other piece is open
and has the length l2=λ .
i) Determine the impedance of the composite load.
ii) Determine input impedance seen by the source.
iii) Determine how much power is dissipated in the load.
