It began operations in 1946 with 23 students and has since grown to be one of the largest elementary schools in the district. The school started with only 4 teachers handling combination classes but has expanded over the decades. In 1992, part of the school's land was given to establish Silway-8 National High School. Currently, Silway-8 Elementary School serves the community and educates students from Barangay Silway-8 and surrounding areas.

    The Silway-8 Elementary School named after Barangay Silway-8 is


    located along the national highway three kilometers south of Poblacion,
    Polomolok, with a total area of 17,000 square meters. The school started
    its operation in 1946 with only 23 students. After 5 years, it became a
    complete elementary school with a population of 186 students. There were
    only 4 teachers handling combination class. In 1992, eight thousand
    (8,000) square meters of school site was given to Silway-8 National High
    School. Today, Silway-8 Elementary School is the second largest non-
    central elementary school in Polomolok west district.
