HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK

GRADE VI
Dear Parents,

Holidays are the time when you get a chance to connect with your child in
many ways. As you are your child’s first and most important teacher, you can
encourage your child’s love for learning by participating in educational activities
at home. Working together on the activities will help your child to build
confidence, learn to reason, and develop necessary skills. So, utilize this
golden period of family reunion and strengthen your family ties with your kids
and relatives. Prepare family meals, travel to your favorite places, read, do
gardening, talk, and work out together. Tell your life stories, make it compulsory
to sit with grandparents for storytime, take their advice, make DIY crafts…and
most importantly, add value to the family time. Teach your children to show
gratitude to Allah SWT for His blessings, learn and recite Duas and Ahadiths
and be thankful to each other for adding value and purpose in life😊
Dear Children,

Vacation is a time when you connect with your friends, family members, and

relatives. So, all of you ― ENJOY YOUR TIME WITH FAMILY AND HAVE FUN

LEARNING NEW THINGS AND PRACTICING THE ALREADY KNOWN😊

Here are a few tips for you to follow:

Math worksheet to be done on an A4 size sheet.

Assign a permanent workplace and work time. This will bring discipline
to your life.
Inculcate good manners – 4 magic words ― “Please, thank you, excuse me,
sorry” – Use them and see the difference.
Help your elders to keep the house clean. Do small household jobs like
dusting, watering the plants, laying the table, and so on.
Listen to stories from family members and try to narrate them.
Plan a daily routine for yourself and your family members. Pen down and
follow it. Spend quality time with your parents, grandparents, and siblings.
Last but not least – “Always speak in English with your family members and
friends.”

Compile all the worksheets in a handcrafted folder and decorate it as per

your choice. Enjoy your work and take pride in your efforts😊

Wishing you all Happy Holidays😊

Book Report
Book Reports are a great tool for helping us learn how to summarize what we’ve
read completely and concisely. It helps us look for details like setting, characters,
plot, and more. Plus, we learn to list supporting reasons for what we liked or didn’t
like about the book.
Task: Read any two books of your choice and write/prepare reports on both.
These fun book report ideas allow you to express creativity, plan your project,
and work on visual presentations too. Use these creative book report ideas and
write the reports.
Mathematics
Task 1: Assembling 3-D Shapes to
build a city.

Architects design the buildings we live

in, work, and play. They have got to know all of the STEM fields.
Architecture encompasses all aspects of STEM – science, technology,
engineering, and math, with art and design added in!

How to build a city by assembling 3-D shapes

Use graph paper to cut out shapes.

Assemble them into various 3-D geometric shapes. You may make
cubes and cuboids of various sizes as well as some pyramids.
You can combine shapes to make different ones. For example, you may
put a pyramid on top of a cube to make a house shape.
You can see how to make 3-D shapes at this link:
https://teachbesideme.com/3d-paper-shapes/
Once the shapes are all cut, color and design them to make all of the
different buildings.
Tape/glue them together after the designs are finished.
Arrange the buildings on graph paper/chart paper/cardboard. You may
even draw in some roads.
Once the city is assembled, extend this project by trying to figure out the
area and perimeter of the shapes and buildings you have created. Play
and have fun!

Following are some examples for reference:

Task 2: Barbecue on a Budget

Literacy Project
For this project, you will be planning a barbecue party! Here’s the catch. You only
have Rs.5000 to spend.
Here is the “must have!!!”:
A guest list (number of people attending)
Grocery list (food, beverages, cutlery, plates/cups)
Location (home, park, cottage, etc.)
Decorations (tablecloths, banners, etc.)
The rest is up to you!
Mention your grocery list and what it costs you by drawing a table like the one
given below.
Items No. of Items Cost per item

Meat

Vegetables

Beverages

Snacks

Desserts

Task 3: Problem of the Day

Scattered learning opportunities engage kids and keep their brains sharp. These
playful summer problems of the day calendars will help with that.
The fun twist? Each day, the solution to the problem is equal to the date! For
example, on June 1, the answer to the Math question is 1. This means kids can self-
check and can make corrections if necessary.
Science
Task 1: Make a 3-D model of any simple machine of your choice.

Task 2: Make a poster to show how can we save our Earth from pollution
and its harmful effects.

Task 3: Recycle old items available at your home and make decorations.

Research
Project:
Task 4:

Make a fact file about

endangered species.
Search about their basic
information, why are
they endangered and
what steps can be taken
to save them.

HOMEMADE WEAVING LOOM WITH POPSICLE STICKS
Weaving provides a wonderful opportunity for kids to discover patterns and textures and to
encourage growth in fine motor skills and eye hand coordination.

Things you need

Popsicle sticks Glue Strings Fabric ribbon

 Glue 4 popsicle sticks together into a square

 Cut long piece of string and wrap it around the sticks
 Adjust the lines of string by adding a drop of glue on the string where it wrapped around the
popsicle stick to help hold in the place
 Cut some short pieces of fabric ribbon and place them in to a bowl next to little loom for the
kids to use
What fun it would be for the kids to create art while working on fine motor skills at the same
time.

BUTTON ART TREE

You will need
old buttons canvas/hard chart paint glue

We used a bare tree for our basic shape, but it would also be fun to fill a solid shape with buttons as
well (a giant button heart, for example, would be really cute too!).
Collect your buttons and put them into a large pile. This step can also serve as a fantastic lesson about
sorting by shape, size and colour for younger children.
Use a small amount of Tacky Glue to attach the buttons to the canvas.
Continue adding buttons until you are satisfied with the way it looks.
You can even choose to layer buttons upon buttons for extra
dimension! Allow glue to dry thoroughly before hanging.

Nature Walk n Talk
 Small children can get bored easily, so combining a walk outdoors with
something that's both fun and educational is sure to be a winner. Nature
observation walks can be fantastic learning experiences for toddlers and
even babies can enjoy the ride, provided they have plenty to look at and
keep them busy along the way.
 It's best to plan a short walk of an hour or less, depending on your child's
age and stamina level. The easiest way to get them interested and
excited is to involve them in every aspect of the planning. Depending on where you plan to go, that can mean
packing a backpack with various items, plotting a route and talking beforehand about what to look out for.
