INSTRUCTIONS: In the classroom you are tasked to observe, focus on how the teacher applies the
following teaching approaches and describe his/her application in the table below by providing
example/s of his/her use.

1. Learner-centered
The teacher let the students to solve problem, answer
questions, and formulate questions on their own.
2. Inclusive
The Teacher always makes sure that every students has their
access in education and being able to gain equal opportunities
towards learning.

3. Developmentally Aside from giving them task/activities, she make sure that he

4. Relevant responsive
She became very responsive to students’ inquiries; especially
most of them find it hard to solve problems in mathematics.
5. Research-based
The Teacher does look her strategies and activities included in
class to have a strong basis and that could also develop
effective teaching.
6. Culture-sensitive
As to what I observe, Teacher tells and educates everyone

that despite of the religion, gender or race they have, they must
not be superior to another. Thus, she became aware and
understood their background from the very beginning.
7. Contextual She make her learning more meaningful to students by

connecting real-world application/situation. Thus, making the
lesson relevant to them.
8. Constructivist
She always make sure that students’ understood the lesson or

got already the idea or knowledge before moving to another

lesson. So that learners could easily build on their existing

foundation to learn new information.
9. Inquiry-based and reflective Teacher let students share their own ideas and question about
their lesson/topic.
10. Collaborative As I observe, collaboration is one way to help students who are
struggling to better understand the concept, because they can
hear it explained by their peers especially they’re still in their 6 th
grade.
11. Integrative It involves students’ interest. Thus, it allows them the freedom to
pursue learning holistically without the limitations or restrictions
imposed by academic boundaries.
12. Spiral Progressive

She teaches concepts gradually and repeatedly.
13. Mother-tongue based As I observe, majority of the students find it hard to understand
multilingual education and speak the language of instruction (L2). So to help them catch
up and comprehend easily the lesson, the teacher does speak
two language and blended it all together; the native language
(L1), and the second language (L2).
PROCESSING QUESTIONS AND ANALYSIS

1. Which of the approaches cited above were most evidently used by the teacher you observed?
What does this say about the teacher's ability to facilitate learning in the classroom?

The most useful teaching approaches is the Mother-tongue based multilingual education or the
MTB-MLE, mainly because students from different grade level find difficult to comprehend and speak
the language of instruction. Thus, it is shown that with the help of MTB-MLE, students learn better and
faster if the language being used is their native language or the language they can understand…but
that doesn’t mean we lower the standards and expectation to our students, thus, we are only using
mother tongue to ease the difficulty that the child may experience during lesson/discussions
2. RA 10533, known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, states that "the curriculum
shall use pedagogical approaches that are constructivist, Inquiry-based, reflective, collaborative, and
integrative.” Furthermore, it shall be "learner-centered, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate”.
How does the use of these approaches impact the teaching-learning process in the classroom?
Constructivist, Inquiry-based, reflective, collaborative, and integrative approaches impact the

teaching-learning process especially students learn best when engaged in learning experiences rather
than passively receiving information. It should be embedded that teachers and students must work
together to build information and knowledge.
3. Which among the teaching approaches do you find to be the most challenging? Explain.
I think it’s the culture-sensitive approach. If you lack knowledge of others’ or your students’
customs, values, and who are different from ourselves, it will eventually cause issue. One mistake leads to
problem.
INSIGHTS AND REFLECTION
What insights and reflection can you derive from this specific field study experience?

The traditional notion “once a teacher, always a student” has applied in this observation, thus,
the teachers become learners of learning. They always have been learners of content and they seek
to better understand the learning experiences of the students and the instructional approaches they
are using.
