 FM-EN-007-R0 Rotary Wire Cutter OSM 1017

DESCRIPTION

The LIMAR Rotary Cutter is designed to drop, cut & clamp to wireline if a toolstring were to become
inadvertently stuck down hole.

The Cutter is assembled onto the wire above closed BOP rams. It can be assembled and dropped
in either Standard or Interface modes dependant upon well conditions.

The Cutter can be used to cut and clamp to multiple line sizes by interchanging the Wedges within
the Cutter Assembly.

Optional Rollers or Fluted Centralisers can be incorporated when the Cutter is used in larger ID
tubing or high angle wells.

The Limar Drop Bar design allows the operator to configure the Drop Bar lengths to suit well type
and conditions. Rollers and Fluted Centralisers can also be used in conjunction with the Drop
Bars.

TOOL APPLICATIONS:

 For cutting wire at the top of a tool string which is stuck down hole

MAINTENANCE

LIMAR recommends that the tool is disassembled after each operation. Check all parts for wear or any signs of corrosion.
Refer to the disassembly and assembly instructions in the Operation and Service Manual for details.

Use Redress Kits supplied from LIMAR.

Use suitable grease during assembly to lubricate all moving parts.

DISASSEMBLY

Tools Required: Allen Key-Metric Pin Punch

Adjustable Wrench Hammer
Screw driver

IMPORTANT: ENSURE THAT THE TOOL IS ONLY GRIPPED ACROSS THE FLATS;

1. Unscrew Shear Screw (15) from Body (1).

2. Unscrew Knife Retainer (3) from Body (1) and remove Centraliser (14) from Body (1).

3. Slide Wedge Holder (6) from Knife Retainer (3). 4. Remove the Wire Trap (5) from Wedge Holder (6).
Using Pin Punch remove Shear Pin (12) and
remove Wedge (8) from Wedge Holder (6).

7. Push / Insert Extension Tube (9) into Body (1) to allow rotation. Rotate 60º to align key way with slot and remove.

8. Unscrew the split Wire Retainer Cap (7) from Extension Tube (9).

9. Unscrew Top Sub (11) and remove Centraliser (14) from Body (1).

10. Unscrew Cap Head Screw (13) from Body (1).

11. The tool is now ready for cleaning and inspection.

IMPORTANT: ENSURE THAT THE TOOL IS ONLY GRIPPED ACROSS THE FLATS;

1. Screw Cap Head Screw (13) into Body (1). Install Centraliser (14) onto Body (1). Screw Top Sub (11) into Body (1)
to retain Centraliser. Slide Extension Tube (9) into Top Sub (11).

4. Rotate Extension Tube 60º to align locking slot with key way (See fig 1, 2, 3). Screw Shear Screw into Interface Body.
(See fig 4).

5. Assemble the two parts of Wire Retainer Cap (7) ensuring the two parts are correctly aligned and screw into Extension
Tube (9).

6. Select the correct Wedge (8) to suit the line size to be cut and slide Wedge (8) into Wedge Holder (6). Insert Shear
Pin (12) into Wedge Holder (6). Install the Wedge Holder (7) complete with Wedge onto the wire and slide the Wire
Trap (5) into the Wedge Holder (6) until it stops.

7. Slide Knife Retainer (3) onto the wire. Screw Standard Bottom Shoe (10) into Knife Retainer (3).

8. Install Fixed Knife (2), Rotating Knife (4) and Wedge Holder (6) into Knife Retainer (3).

9. Slide Centraliser (14) onto Body (1) and screw Knife Retainer (3) onto Body (1).
