Vibration Monitoring Components

Engine / Power Turbine vibration monitoring is provided at three points:
FLANGE A
FLANGE K
FLANGE S.

Flange-A LP Rotor Vibration Detection

The filter is set to look at vibrations between 40 and 300 Hz to detect LP
rotor issues.

Alarm 2 Mils.
Trip 4 Mils.

Flange A Collector Box Alignment Detection

This channel uses the same signal as the previous one (signal is
jumpered). This channel filters out all the vibration not between 8 to 32
Hz. PW Power Systems recommends resolving this issue within 48
hours.

Alarm 80 mm/sec for 30 minutes.

Trip - there isn't one.

Flange K HP Rotor Vibration Detection

The filter is set to look at vibrations between 40 and 300 Hz to detect

HP rotor issues. The vibration is further filtered by a tracking filter which
looks only at frequencies that coincide with the HP rotor frequency
(RPM / 60).

Alarm - 1 Mil. Trip - 2 Mils.

Flange K Water Injection Vibration Detection

The filter is set to look at vibrations between 421 and 451 Hz to detect
instability in the combustion flame, which can excite various parts of the
turbine causing wear, cracking etc. Also a jumpered signal.

Alarm - 29 mm/sec for 10 seconds. If the water is turned off the

Drive back - 73 mm/sec for 2 seconds. Use this for troubleshooting.
