• Enhanced efficiency through Convergence of existing programmes

• Improved two-way communication to connect youth government
initiatives and activities of other stakeholders

Transport (Project-SMART) has been recently organized in New
Delhi.

Why: To contribute in preparation of ‘Station Area Development


Plans’ for Sabarmati, Surat, Virar and Thane HSR Stations.

• Objective: It envisages developing surrounding areas of


Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Railway (MAHSR) Stations
▪ To enhance accessibility and convenience of commuters &
other stakeholders
▪ To promote economic activities in the vicinity of station
areas

• Institutional capacity of State Governments, Municipal
Corporations/Urban Development Authorities to develop surrounding
areas of MAHSR stations.

• Implementation: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair, Ministry of


Railways and JICA have signed MoU for developing 4 model HSR
stations (Sabarmati, Surat in Gujarat and Virar and Thane in
Maharashtra).

Annual Report on ‘Road Accidents in India-2022”.

Why: To offer in-depth insights into various aspects of road


accidents, including their causes, locations, and their impact on
different categories of road users.

➢About Report

• It is based on the data/information received from police


departments of States/UTs on calendar year basis in standardized
formats

▪ These formats are based on those provided by UN Economic


and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific under the Asia
Pacific Road Accident Data (APRAD) base project.

➢2022 Report Highlights

• Total of 4,61,312 road accidents have been reported by


States/UTs in 2022, which claimed 1,68,491 lives and caused
injuries to 4,43,366 persons.

• This marks an increase of 11.9% in accidents, 9.4% in


fatalities, and 15.3% in injuries compared to the previous
year.

• Recommendations of Report

▪ Adopting a comprehensive approach to address the


contributing factors to these accidents, including speeding,
reckless driving, drunken driving, and non-compliance with
traffic regulations.

▪ Strengthening enforcement mechanisms, enhancing driver


education, and training programs, and investing in improving
the condition of roads and vehicles.

Q.4) Total of 7.33 crore women have been mobilized into SHGs under DAY-NRLM
(Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihoods Mission). Total amount of loan

9 Years’ Achievements of Rural Development

• Ministry of Rural Development has been given the mandate to


undertake interventions for integrated and sustainable rural
development.

• It is the nodal Ministry for most of the development and welfare


activities in the rural areas.

➢Highlights - 9 Year’s achievement (Since 2014)

DAY-NRLM
• Total 7.33 crore women have been mobilized into SHGs.
• Amount of loan disbursed to SHGs by banks is more than Rs. 7.22
Lakh crore.
• Percentage of Non-Performing Assets (NPA) of SHGs have come
down to 1.88% since 2014.
• Now target has been set to reach 10 crore SHGs didis till
December, 2023 and make at least 2 crore didis as lakhpati didis.

PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin)

• Total 3.21 crore houses in rural areas have been completed.


• Total assistance of Rs. 2.48 lakh crore was provided for house
construction to the beneficiaries.

PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana)

• Total of 7.44 lakh Kms road length have been completed.


• More than 1.62 lakh rural habitations have been connected
through all-weather roads.

MGNREGA

• Total of 2,644 crore person days have been generated during the
last 9 years
• More than Rs. 6.63 lakh crore have been released as central
share.
• As a water storage initiative in rural areas, more than 67,000
‘Amrit Sarovar’ have been constructed.
