Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you. Psalm 55:22a Humans like to be in control, having the power to choose exactly what is going to happen and when. Unfortunately, life isn't like that-we only think we're in control. So when something happens and we realize we're not in control, we feel lost, overwhelmed, angry, even terrified. Stephen Ministers are trained to help when things are out of control. They provide support and encouragement while helping a person put faith and trust in GOD. If you would like to learn more about Stephen Ministry, please call Peggy Strack at the church office at 421-3280.

The vigil starts, Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m. and ends Friday, October 14 at 8:30 a.m. You can choose a half-hour time slot that is convenient for you and pray from your home. Journey of Faith Prayer Journals are available at the registration table and offer specific prayer requests for our weekend. Pause for Prayer: 1 Peter 2:4-5 Peter portrayed the church as a living, spiritual house, with Jesus Christ as the foundation and cornerstone and each believer as a stone. The stone by itself is just a stone. However, when eternal life from Jesus is breathed into the stone and the stones are placed side by side they become living stones and build a beautiful house for God. The strength of the house is determined by the spiritual sacrifices given to God, the Father. The upcoming Lay Witness Weekend is one of those spiritual sacrifices that will build and strengthen our church. God promises that when we draw near to HimHe will draw near to us. It will be exciting to see how the mortar (the Holy Spirit) will strengthen our frames and build a new spirit of unity with Jesus as our foundation. Let us pray: Father, I (your name), your chosen stone, come before you and lay my requests at your feet. I come to you as just a stone in need of your life breathed in to me. I pray for the other stones and join them in asking you to create a new spiritual house at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church. Lord, grant us a new outpouring of your Holy Spirit upon the church. Rebuild and revive our church, and begin with me. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
