STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I am a passionate young professional committed to learning and self-development. I have
always been fascinated by technology and how it has affected the lives of people from across
the world. Subsequently, when the time came for me to make a decision about my career
during my higher secondary schooling, I opted for engineering. I completed my
undergraduate studies in Information Technology from the Academy of Business and
Engineering Sciences College affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam University in 2011 with honours
and aggregate 77.85% across four years. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies,
Mahindra Satyam (now Tech Mahindra) as a software engineer hired me in June 2012. This
marked the start of a new chapter in my life as my decision-making, time-management and
interpersonal skills shot up to a next level. After completing two years and seven months in
2015, I headed for a Fortune-5 company -- United Health Group. I have been aligned to the
technological part of the company, which is ‘Optum Global Solutions (OGS)’ and joined as a
quality analyst. Apart from my regular work of understanding and analysing requirements,
designing test scenarios and test cases, test execution, claim adjudication and management
of defects, and verifying and validating the data quality, I took ownership of automating the
quality practices of my company.
My Career has thus evolved from that of an Engineer to a professional capable of

understanding the technological development & leading teams to deliver project results.
Having enjoyed a long and satisfying IT career, I have gradually developed interest in business
matters by acknowledging the importance of business knowledge in the IT sector. I feel that
with added knowledge of my business scope, I would greatly enhance my competency and
abilities in handling the diverse demands of the IT Industry. With this in mind, I have felt the
need to enhance my knowledge in business and leadership by enrolling for an MBA course. In
today’s world of survival of the fittest, one has to be equipped with knowledge, experience,
as well as ambition. It has been my goal to further enhance my knowledge and ambition
through studies. Considering the importance of globalisation, an education that does not fully
address the international and multicultural realities of the flourishing modern business world
is incomplete. Therefore, I have decided to pursue my education overseas as the expertise
and facilities offered in my country’s educational institutions are limited and thus unable to
match the diversity and multi-culture available in Canada. Due to presence of significant
factors in Canadian education, system allured me to choose the full-time study that will help
me to get practical knowledge and I will be able to broaden my horizons and learn more which
will yield me better career prospects in my home country.
I decided to enrol for MBA program at Vancouver Island University. The program includes
subject like The Effective Manager, Management Decision- Making: Operations & Decision
Analysis, International Business Strategies & Managing the network Enterprise, and
International Marketing etc. Will enable me to understand the complex cross- functional
working of an organization and will provide me the perfect platform to apply these
learnings, It will also allow me to expertise on how the digital and technological landscape
is driving everything from organizational behaviour to industry exploring phenomenon like
surveillance capitalism and digital media management. The school’s approach to cultivate
intuition through academic coursework, case studies and consulting and research
assignments, along with the small classroom size inspires me a lot. I wish to opt for the single
degree with project program I feel this is a course that will give me the practical hands-on
experience, which will fully, prepare me for life after university.
It will make ready me for any future management challenges, whilst at the same time making
me a different and better person, and ultimately help me to develop my potential and achieve
my goals. It will not only make a great impact on my career and earning potential, but also on
the time management aspects of my life. Given the confluence of my personal and
professional interests, my goal is to obtain a master's degree and then to work in an IT-
related industry, either with a consulting firm. Looking at a more distant future, I envision
myself at a senior management position such as an Associate Director, Director, at a large
multi-national company like TCS, Infosys, IBM, Bank of America etc. Holding a Canadian
higher education degree will give me an advantage over other professionals in India seeking
the same roles. A master’s degree, especially from a country like Canada, will hold its value
not only for my current organization but also for my future prospects. I hope to be granted a
student visa so I can pursue my higher education there and I look forward to being a proud
alumnus of a Canadian University.
