ABSTRACT
Multidrug resistant bacterial strains have emerged as a result of the widespread use
of antibiotics, food safety and human health are currently at risk. Metal oxide nanoparticles
have drawn the most attention as potential novel antibacterial agents. Due to its
photocatalytic properties, chemical stability, non-toxicity, low cost, and widespread
acceptance as a safe substance, titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been specifically considered as
an appealing antimicrobial compound. It also has excellent antifungal and antimicrobial
properties against a wide range of both gramme positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Cockroach extracts have in vitro antibacterial action against methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Extracts with solvent like chloroform and ethanol were
made, and they were tested against Staphylococcus aureus and E coli. Ethanol extracts from
cockroaches guts and brains shown better activity against methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with a mean diameter of zone of inhibition.

Key words: Periplaneta americana; nanocomposites; antibacterial ; anti-biofilm.
