Screen shots and graphics used in this document should be viewed as examples only.
They cannot describe all possible input combinations; they have an informative character
and are used only for better orientation.
The actual parameters that must be configured can be found in the text and the tables and
depend on the requirements and configuration (items included in the shipment) of the indi-
vidual system.
Requirements 1.1
Required Tools 0
Safety Information 0
The “Safety Information“ contained in the system manual and in the particular unit instruc-
tions must be observed.
Integrated circuits and circuit boards on which MOS components are installed call for par-
ticularly careful handling because of their highly sensitive electrical structures and because
of their extremely high input resistance. The ESD regulations that apply for electrostati-
cally-sensitive components must be observed.
Required Parts 0
The table provides an overview of the required CDs/DVDs for different software installation
situations. These are:
• New installation (from scratch), e.g. upgrade (retrofit) from VB10... to VB21C and
higher
• Re-installation, e.g. because the existing software crashed
• Latest patch beginning with VB21C

Aristos Image System for the 1st time, e.g. only if VB10 or VB20 was on the system
before.
• The following is an outline of some of the work steps that will be covered in this chapter:
Tab. 6 Work Steps
Check the Med CS Intranet/Extranet for the latest version of this document (For Service ->
Product Information) or contact your local Siemens office if you do not have access to the
Siemens Intranet/Extranet.
To avoid extra work, check the XCS SSW to determine whether the collimator SW is lower
than VC00N. If so, follow the following work steps. If not, skip this paragraph.
• Go to the download location on the CS Home page: For Service > Product Informa-
tion > AX Systems > Radiography > Direct Technique > Software.
• The required download file is the 10092710_OT_II_VC00N.exe and is located under
the description Collimator G052G.
• Double-click on it and unzip it to a folder of your choice on the C or D drive of your ser-
vice PC.
• You will find two files in the folder: CollimatorSWLoader.exe and
SW_D21_TBN_OT_II_VC00N.H86. Keep them there for later use.
Preparations 2.2

In some cases, the mouse cursor sticks in the top right corner when the RADIS PC is con-
nected to the XCU; this is because the RADIS PC thinks that an RS232 mouse is con-
nected to its RS232 interface and interprets the signals from the XCU as a "mouse
command". To prevent this, the RS232 mouse must be disabled on the RADS PC.
• Select Start > Run > "devmgmt.msc" using the "Windows® key", the arrow keys and
the Enter key.
Fig. 20:
• After starting the Device Manager, select the "Mice and other pointing devices"
hardware components and select the context menu with the right mouse button.

collimator.
If there is no FX, skip this chapter and go to (Checking and Activating System Management
(only if remote is configured) / p. 49).
NOTICE Before starting a download, disable the screen saver and any
power-saving features which might shut down the PC unex-
pectedly! This update takes approx. 30...45 min. and should
be done parallel to the Radis update using the Service PC.
Screen shots do not always show the correct software ver-
sions.
¹ Follow chapter headlines, notes and hints closely!
• Connect the Service PC to the gateway master (use the short adapter cable) or use the
Radis PC.
If using the Service PC: Make sure that the latest FX Service SW is installed.
• If using the Radis PC, go to C:\SSW\Aristos\Aristos.exe to start the Aristos FX SSW:
- Log in with your name. The password is "_Siemens" (case-sensitive!).
• Perform a backup with SSW Aristos FX > Backup/Restore > Backup ...by pressing
the backup button.
• In the SSW, select Aristos FX > Backup/Restore > Download (1/Fig. 28 / p. 45).
• Check whether the clutch power settings are correct according to Speed Info 21929:

can be found in the Knowledge Base).
Click on SSW Aristos FX > Development > GW Config > Mechanical offset.
Click on Read. Change all values to 0 in the Clutch Power column.
Click on Save.
Switch the entire system off and on and check the function.
• Wait until the SW has downloaded. After the program has downloaded, an audible sig-
nal is sounded (TOOT-TA-TOOT) (three beeps).
• Remove the floppy.
• Reboot the XCU by unplugging and plugging in the "XCU X1" power connector.
• Switch the system off completely (hold the switch at the control cabinet for more than 3
sec.) and switch on again.
• Click on the buttons Update Cmp Ver and Update IF Ver. Check the software version
of all components (Fig. 30 / p. 47) against the provided the Compatibility List (the
screen shot is just an example!).
• To test the Connectivity, click on the Test button. Since this is a very time-critical action,
it is possible that a connection will not be immediately established. Because of this, sev-
eral attempts should be made.
¹ The server must send back a message, e.g.:
NOTE If outside NAT is configured, the test function will not work
and the message “...not alive” will be displayed.
The new server name and IP address will then have to be reg-
istered with the local administrator and the SRS Help Desk.

This procedure describes the steps necessary to reinstall the Radis VB21 SW on the
AXIOM Aristos Image System when a VB21 was installed before, e.g. after a system
crash.
• Here is a guideline of what will be covered (among other things) in this chapter:
Tab. 7 Work Steps
Creating a repair plan is the best way to ensure that all necessary steps are performed in
an efficient way and that multiple visits after setup of the PC are avoided.
• Identify the SW version before the crash (possibly consider open patches or new ver-
sions - > to save time) .
List all performed updates and remote updates available in the update handling tool /
country SAP (notifications)] and the sequence of updates that need to be installed.
• Check whether a virus protection contract exists -> if yes, download the latest released
scan engine + latest virus pattern from the Intranet.
• Options & Licenses:
Check whether there is a distribution list (ROD Remote Options Distribution) [current
on-site license file + ROD] using the remote connection.
• Download all needed remote updates, incl. UI (by CSE (on laptop HD) or by USC (pre-
pare DVD etc. if applicable))
• If a virus is suspected, check the system using the bootable virus scanner.
• Check the external removable devices (CD, DVD, USB stick, USB disk) if a virus is sus-
pected.
• Unplug the network cable (virus protection).
• Install the latest Ghost image.
• Install all required updates and remote updates.
• If a virus protection contract exists, install the latest virus pattern.
• Install the remote option (ROD), if required.
• Plug in the network cable only after all remote updates and virus patterns (VP) have
been installed.
