QUARTILE
The quartiles are the score points
which divide a distribution into four
equal parts
Q1 Q2 Q3
QUARTILE rules
To compute:
Q1 (lower quartile) = 0.25 (n+1)
If lower quartile (Q1) falls halfway between
two integers, ROUND UP the answer.
Q2 (middle quartile) = 0.5 (n+1)

Example #1:
A researcher collects
data on the number of
siblings of SHS
students in ISAP, and
his study yields the
following;
3, 1, 6, 4, 10, 9, 3, 9, 5,
4, 2, 7, 8. Find D3, D6,
D8.
Solution:
1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10 n =13

Example #2:
The following are the ages
of Mathematics Professors
at Cagayan State University
Caritan Campus;
25, 27, 29, 30, 35, 37, 42, 43,
45, 47, 50. At what ages
does the 3rd decile will fall?
Example #3:
The heights in centimeters
of selected 1st year
BSED/BPED students in
ISAP are as follows;
150, 153, 159, 162, 169, 170,
175, 180. Which of the
following is the 6th decile?
PERCENTILE
Percentiles are the values that divide
into 100 equal parts.

Example #1:
The following are
scores in MMW test:
2, 3, 18, 20, 6, 5, 15,
12, 10, 8. Find the
value corresponding
to the 34th percentile.
Solution:
