know your team can refurbish 100 square feet per week. After 4 weeks, you have
45% of the job complete and you have spent $250,000. Compute different Earned
Value (EV) terms to assess projects health?

 CV = $ -25,000 (at this stage, it is over planned cost)

 CPI = 0.9 (Over Planned Cost)
 SV = $ 25,000 (the project is ahead of schedule)
 SPI = 1.125 (Ahead of project)
 EAC = $ 555,555.55 (The expected total cost at the completion of project)
 ETC = $ 305,555.55 (The expected cost of finish all the reaming work and project)
 VAC = $ -55,555.55 (Variance at completion)
 TCPI = 1.1 (harder to complete the project based as per the cost) & 0.9 (will be completed before
schedule)

22. Briefly answer the following questions:

a. Name any three Leadership theories and briefly discuss any one?

Following are the common leadership theories:

1- Great Man Theory:

The theory tells that leaders are born and they are not made. A person is born with or without
necessary characters of leaderships.

2- Trait Theory
3- Behavioral Theory
4- Situational Theory
5- Contingency Theory

b. How are performance measurement baselines established in project management?

A performance measurement baseline is a tool that is used by project managers to define project
parameters that are
 Scope Baseline
 Schedule Baseline
 Cost Baseline
Once the estimates are approved and set, the PMB becomes a reference for measuring project
success or any deviations from the initial plan. A PMB is needed to compare the project plan and
actuals to an initially approved budget.
It’s a measuring reference of stakeholders approach for project progress.

c. Name any four Project Management Maturity Models?

PMMM measure how well a company handles the projects. Currently, almost 29 models are
available, however 7 models are the most common:

 Capability Maturity Model (CMM)

 Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3)
 Project Management Maturity Model (PMMMSM)
 Berkeley Project Management Process Maturity Model
 Gartner Score Diagnostic Family
 Kerzner’s Project Management Maturity Model
 Portfolio, Program, and Project Management Maturity Model

d. What are the benefits of using performance measurement baselines in project

management?

The main benefit of PMB is to gauge the progress of the work and is measured against this
baseline. This tool helps the project manager and the stakeholders to determine where the project
stands with respect to schedule, budget, and scope.

e. How do project managers use performance measurement baselines to track project

progress?

Project managers use this tool to measure a project’s performance against its initial plan. The key
purpose is to identify deviations from the plan which the project managers to initiate corrective or
preventive action in such cases.
The “Earned Value Analysis” is the most common method for measuring the performance of any
project.

f. How Is a Project Management Maturity Assessment exercise performed?

The PMM assessment is used to understand the reliability and consistency of their current project
management processes. This exercise include interviews, surveys, benchmarks, and document
reviews. This exercise can be conducted internally with self-assessments or by a trained consultant.

The following evaluation are conducted:

 Artifact Collection:
The managers determine whether or not teams follow processes and write project plans.
 Interviews:
Interviews are conducted to understand process importance.
 Questionnaires:
Administering questionnaires to determine project management maturity.
 Benchmarking:
Benchmarking against other organizations provides an objective standard for considering a
company’s efforts.

4. Accurate and aligned budget and resourcing allocation, which can help to satisfy executives
and keep the overall project portfolio in check.
5. A reduction in project failure, overspending and client dissatisfaction through standardized
templates and tools, and continual monitoring

h. Draw an “S” curve and mark Cost and Schedule variance on it?
23. You are the Program Manager managing the construction of a new airport. Five project
managers are directly reporting to you. Each project manager is assigned a part of the total
scope of works to be executed independently. The total duration allowed to complete all
works is 24 months and the total approved budget is $10,000,000.
At the end of the first year, you should have completed $6,000,000 worth of work but the project is only 50%
complete. Actual costs reported by each project manager for the first year are:
a) Project manager 1: $200,000
b) Project manager 2: $1,200,000
c) Project manager 3: $1,800,000
d) Project manager 4: $500,000
e) Project manager 5: $900,000
Compute different Earned Value (EV) terms to assess projects health?

 CV = $ 400,000 (at this stage, it is under planned cost)

 CPI = 1.086 (Under Planned Cost)
 SV = $ -1,000,000 (the project is behind of schedule)
 SPI = 0.8333 (behind the schedule)
 EAC = $ 9,208,103.13 (The expected total cost at the completion of project)
 ETC = $ 4,608,103.13 (The expected cost of finish all the reaming work and project)
 VAC = $ 791,896.87 (Variance at completion)
 TCPI = 0.925 (as per the 1 year completion analysis, the projects will complete in the planned cost)
and 1.085 (as per the 1 year completion analysis, the project will be completed behind the schedule)
