At the end of the 60 – minute period, the students should be able to:
1. Identify the values of a, b, & c from the standard form of quadratic equation.
I. OBJECTIVES
2. Solve for the sum and product of the quadratic equation.
3. Describes the relationship between the coefficients and the roots of a quadratic equation.
A. Content Standard Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of quadratic equations, inequalities and functions, and rational
algebraic equations.
B. Performance Standard Able to investigate thoroughly mathematical relationships in various situations, formulate real-life problems
involving quadratic equations, inequalities and functions, and rational algebraic equations and solve them
using a variety of strategies.
C. Most Essential Learning (M9AL-Ic-2)
Competency (MELC) Describes the relationship between the coefficients and the roots of a quadratic equation.
D. CONTENT Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach in the CG, the content
can be tackled in a week or two.

F. PROCEDURES Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the
students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with
multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what
they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
Alright, seat back, listen and have fun learning. But before we start, always
remember our school & classroom rules.
To minimize the noise, if you want to use the comfort room, just raise your
hand with a thumbs up. Also, please avoid answering in chorus.
Kindly arrange your chairs and please sit properly. If you have any questions,
please raise your hand and no shouting. Are we clear?

lesson product of Quadratic Equation)
3. Presenting examples/Instances The sum and product of roots of the quadratic equation ax 2 +bx +c=0 can
of the new lesson be determined using the coefficients a, b, and c.
Without even finding the actual roots of a quadratic equation using the
factorization method or the quadratic formula, we can find the sum and product of
the roots, just by figuring out the coefficients a, b, c of the quadratic equation.
The sum of the roots of a quadratic equation is equal to the negation of the
coefficient of the second term, divided by the leading coefficient. It is the additive
inverse of the quotient of b and a.
The product of the roots of a quadratic equation is equal to the constant term (the
third term), divided by the leading coefficient. It is the quotient of c and a.

Answer: Use the quadratic equations below to answer the questions that
follow.

x + 7 x+12=0 2 x −3 x −20=0
Fast Learners:
Directions: Determine the values of a, b, and c of the given quadratic
equations and solve for the sum and product of the roots. Also, describe
the relationship between the coefficient and the roots.
1. x 2−6 x +8=0
2. 2 x 2+3 x−2=0
7. Finding practical application of We faced so many problems in our daily lives. There are problems that can
concepts and skills in daily be easily solved. There were also problems that makes us helpless as we
living don’t know how to solve it. But, in every problem, we can always find
various ways to solve it. Just like in solving quadratic equations, there are
lots of ways to obtain the roots. And there is an easier way to solve every
problem.
8. Making generalizations and To checked whether we attained the designed objectives, let’s recall our
abstractions about the lesson lesson for today.
How can we get the sum & product of the quadratic equation?
What is the relationship between the values of a, b and c to the roots of the
equation?
9. Evaluating learning Directions: Determine the values of a, b, and c of the given quadratic
equations and solve for the sum and product of the roots. Also, describe
the relationship between the coefficient and the roots.
1. x 2+ 9 x+7=0
2. REMARKS
3. REFLECTION Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about
your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be
done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional
supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask
them relevant questions.
1. No. of learners who earned 80% in
the evaluation
2. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation who scored below
80%
3. Did the remedial lessons work? No.
of learners who have caught up
with the lesson
4. No. of learners who continue to
require remediation
5. Which of my teaching strategies
worked well? Why did these work?
6. What difficulties did I encounter
which my principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
7. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/discover which I
wish to share with other teachers?
