1 Mill shell with welded-on slide rings

The mill shell is of fabricated steel plate design with welded on slide rings. The
slide rings of the mill shell are supported in slide shoe bearings.
Due to the design of the web of the slide rings no additional end discs are
required.
Heat treatment of the slide rings with the welded-in rims is allowed for.

1 Mill feed arrangement (retractable)

The mill feed chute of rockbox design is fabricated from mild steel and is lined

The discharge arrangement consists of a discharge grate (see below) and a


rubber lined outlet cone. The discharge housing with supporting structure is not
included.

The slide ring web at the inlet and mill shell are lined with highly wear-resistant
Cr-Mo steel liners. The cast discharge end assembly (Cr-Mo steel) complete

2 Sets of slide shoe bearing assemblies

The mill shell is supported in hydrodynamic slide shoe bearing assemblies at the
feed and discharge end.

The individual slide shoes are lined with white metal and equipped with
temperature sensors which are pre-wired to a terminal box.

The slide-shoe bearing assemblies are protected by a water/oil tight sealed and
dust proof housing of solid welded design.

Seals, base plates and H.D. bolts are included in the scope of supply.

The slide shoe bearing system incorporates a jacking facility. The complete mill
can be held in position with two of the four slide shoes. The unloaded slide
shoes can be withdrawn individually for inspection or maintenance reasons.

1 Drive train arrangement

1 Girth gear

One girth gear (spur geared) in welded design is bolted on the girth gear flange.
The girth gear flange is welded onto the slide ring at the discharge end.

2 COMBIFLEX main reducer with one auxiliary drive

The COMBIFLEX reducer incorporates three gear stages with a double output
stage. The two self-aligning output pinions of the reducer are directly meshing
with the girth gear. The load sharing between the two output pinions is system
inherent and permanently ensured.
The shafts with bearings are accommodated in a water/oil tight and dust-proof
housing. The reducer housing is directly connected with the bearing housing.

Sole plates and anchoring of the COMBIFLEX reducer are included.

A flexible high speed coupling connects the main motor and the gear box.

The COMBIFLEX reducer incorporates an electro mechanical auxiliary drive for


slow rotation of the mill complete with an over-running coupling, a centrifugal
and a double shoe brake with an electro-hydraulically operated brake release.
Sole plates and anchoring of the auxiliary drive are included.

2 Safeset Torque Limiting Coupling

The COMBIFLEX drive incorporates a Safeset® Safety Device for a high speed
synchronous motor.

The Safeset® Safety Device is a torque limiting safety coupling. Its main purpose
is to avoid catastrophic failure or destruction in the case of overload of the drive
line, which can result in injuries or unexpected and expensive downtime of the
entire system. A shear ring cuts off a shear tube and thereby protects the
system from overload; bearings prevent the contact of friction surfaces. Special
oil used in the pressure surface and bearing areas guarantees a constant
coefficient of friction and thereby high release accuracy. As opposed to break-off
element couplings, the release torque is not influenced by material fatigue. The
Safeset® can be returned into operation after a minimum of delay by replacing
the shear tube and reapplying the pressure

Two Safeset® couplings included complete with bearings, seals and gear
coupling.

One Service Box is included and comes complete with high-pressure hydraulic
pump, pressure relief valve, Safeset® oil, tools and spares.

One operating and one stand-by high pressure pump for the hydrostatic
lubrication of the slide shoe bearings when the mill is started up, rotated slowly

One oil fine filtering circuit with pump, motor and filters.

Additional oil filters, coolers, electrical instruments for control and monitoring, oil
tank and connecting pipework.

All electrical instruments of the lubrication systems are pre-wired up to a


terminal box.

All motors are according to NEMA.

Oil sampling parts are allowed for.

Brackets for fire protection system are included.

1 Set of Field Instrumentation

consisting of:

• 8 temperature sensors (PT-100), for the slide shoe bearings at the feed and
discharge end of the mill. Sensors are pre-wired to 2 terminal boxes to be
mounted on the foundations of each bearing.
• 1 vibration sensor with transducer, for recording the vibrations of the main
gear reducer.
• 2 sets of electrical instruments, one for each oil lubrication system, each con-

ball returning spiral and a dam ring. A trommel screen with panels can be
attached to the distance cylinder. The discharge housing with supporting
structure is not included.

2 Oil lubrication systems for bearings

Consumers of lubrication system A: feed end bearing assembly,


Consumers of lubrication system B: discharge end bearing assembly, and girth

Each lubrication system includes:


Two operating and two stand-by high pressure pumps with motors for the
lubrication of the consumers during normal operation.

One operating and one stand-by high pressure pump for the accumulators in
case of emergency (e.g. power failure).

One additional fine filtering and cooling circuit with one operating and one stand-
by low pressure pump.

Electrical instruments for control and monitoring, oil tank and connecting
pipework.

All electrical instruments of the lubrication systems are pre-wired up to a


terminal box

1 Set of mill liners – OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Highly wear resistant rubber is used for the mill lining.

The lining consists of:

the complete liners for the feed and discharge end,

2 Sets of slide shoe bearing assemblies

The mill shell is supported in hydrodynamic slide shoe bearing assemblies at the
feed and discharge end.

The individual slide shoes are lined with white metal and equipped with
temperature sensors which are pre-wired to a terminal box.

The slide-shoe bearing assemblies are protected by a water/oil tight sealed and
dust proof housing of solid welded design.

Seals, base plates and H.D. bolts are included in the scope of supply.

The slide shoe bearing system incorporates a jacking facility. The complete mill
can be held in position with two of the four slide shoes. The unloaded slide
shoes can be withdrawn individually for inspection or maintenance reasons.

The shafts with bearings are accommodated in a water/oil tight and dust-proof
housing. The reducer housing is directly connected with the bearing housing.

Sole plates and anchoring of the COMBIFLEX reducer are included.

A flexible high speed coupling connects the main motor and the gear box.

The COMBIFLEX reducer incorporates an electro mechanical auxiliary drive for


slow rotation of the mill complete with an over-running coupling, a centrifugal
and a double shoe brake with an electro-hydraulically operated brake release.
Sole plates and anchoring of the auxiliary drive are included.

1 Safeset Torque Limiting Coupling

The COMBIFLEX drive incorporates a Safeset® Safety Device for a high speed
synchronous motor.

The Safeset® Safety Device is a torque limiting safety coupling. Its main purpose
is to avoid catastrophic failure or destruction in the case of overload of the drive
line, which can result in injuries or unexpected and expensive downtime of the

3. GENERAL FOR ALL EQUIPMENT

Standards
The equipment will be designed and manufactured according to the present EN;
DIN and VDE standards supplemented by in-house work standards - if not
otherwise stated.

Paintings
For protection against corrosion the following painting will be applied:

Equipment, machines and material of sub-suppliers and/or their associated


companies will be painted according to their standards.

Equipment, machines and material of Polysius will be painted according to the


attached Polysius standard painting systems P501.

Following Polysius-systems will be applied:
