ABSTRACT

ALAMAN.D. 2023. "Constraints of tomato farmers: A phenomenological study"

Undergraduate Thesis, College of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Forestry, and Food Services.

Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology. Duluruman, Arakan, Cotabato.__ pp.

Adviser: MARY GRACE A. APOLONA

This study was conducted in GAMBODES, ARAKAN, NORTH COTABATO In

September, 2022 with the research questions: What are the challenges faced by the tomato

farmers? And how the obstacle were overcome?

This study well be anchored on the theory of Theory of Constraints Boogaard, (2022). It

is a methodology for locating the most significant constraint (i.e., limiting factor) that prevents

the accomplishment of a goal and for gradually removing that constraint from the equation. All

farmers ultimately want to turn a profit, but since every process has limitations, the quickest way

to boost profitability is to concentrate on and identify any shortcomings.

This study utilized qualitative research design using a phenomenological approach in

trying to explore and dig deeper on the Constraints of tomato farmers.

Results revealed that showed that financial constraints, pest infestation and unpredictable

weather conditions are common problems. In addition, farmers learned to adjust, through

contract financing, care and maintenance and proper use of pesticides and fertilizer.
