PROPOSAL
I. Title of the Activity: MaTH-GIST (Mathematics Teachers Harmonizing technical

competence and teaching strategies: GeoGebra basics as Instructional tool in Strengthening
teachers' Technical competence
II. Rationale:
Department of Education thru Deped Order No. 35 s. 2016 issued a policy on the Learning
Action Cell (LAC) as a K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based Continuing Professional
Development Strategy for the improvement of teaching and learning. This LAC is a session
conducted by group of teachers who engage in collaborative learning sessions to solve shared
challenges in school. In this light, the Junior High School Math teachers will conduct a LAC
session to discuss topics, disseminate new information, teaching strategies, assessment, and
technology in adapting the changes in the return of face-to-face classes.
Effective mathematics teaching requires various types of competencies from teachers, the
most critical of which is being able to integrate one’s knowledge of mathematics, of pedagogy,
and technology to design mathematical learning experiences. This LAC session will help the
Math teachers to be effective and flexible in the changes in learning modality.
III. Objectives:
The conduct of this LAC Session expects participants to have
1. Well-equipped knowledge and strategies in Math teaching during face-to-face classes.
2. Enhance teachers’ ability in integrating ICT in Math teaching such as PowerPoint
Presentation, GeoGebra Applets and differentiated performance tasks.
3. Build good relationship among participants that will result commitment in mentoring and
sharing of their teaching experiences and practices to improve instruction in face-to-face
learning.
