ONLINE LEARNING IS AS GOOD AS FACE TO FACE LEARNING.

Student’s Name

Date

As days goes by, we have seen the education sector take a different direction all together.

The use of information technology has been higher than the previous years. New models have

proven to be more beneficial and accessible to many. I think we need to adapt to the newer

models as they are more efficient. Online learning is one of the new model this occurs when the

teacher and student are in different locations. Some of the modes used in online learning are

computer, audio conferencing, broadcast, television, videotape and audio tape etc. This should be

adapted as it’s faster and more efficient . 1 We also need to understand that online learning

doesn’t only involve distance learning, it can also incorporate both. Some call it fusion learning

where there is use of computers and use of a teacher. 2 In my argument online learning is good

than face to face learning, it is more advanced, therefore, in my article today, we are going to

look at benefits of online learning, differences in the two modes of learning, and disadvantages

of face to face learning.

One of the benefit is that students in online learning circumstances performed better than

those going through face to face learning. This is because technology is more detailed than a

teacher teaching in front of a class. Second it’s that online learning creates a stronger sense of

community and reduce student dropout through mentoring programs that different schools have

come up with . 3Thirdly this mode of learning is easily available, you can learn remotely from

any part of the world at your convenience as long as you have access to the internet. Another

important benefit is that its flexible such that you can determine favorable time to do your studies

and the amount of time you would want to invest in a particular subject.

During an online learning research, a “group-controlling” design was found, whereas an

“individual-controlling” pattern was found in the face to face model of learning. There was seen

immense depth of the interactions amid students rise from the beginning to the middle of the

class and reached a reasonably stable state from the middle to the end of the class . 4 Second

difference is a research was conducted by teaching students online and face to face and they were

later given a test to conduct, at the end of the research students who attended the online training

performed better than the face to face learning, proving that online learning has found to be more

efficient in this generation. Most of the online students found the course to be as effective or

more effective to their learning than the usual face to face learning . 5 In addition to the above,

students using online materials and frequently interacting with this method of learning became

more satisfied and opened them up more mentally than those using face to face model of learning

. 6More technical skills are developed as students need to learn how to go through different

learning methods and programmes to achieve the given assignment.

Now having understood the online method of learning, i would like to state some of the

disadvantages of face to face learning and it’s my desire that we could adapt to the most efficient

mode of learning. First is that face to face mode of learning is more tedious for both the student

and the teacher as it involves a lot of time for students to learn and complete assignments given.

Secondly this is not the most convenient model of study as it involves travelling to a certain

place or classroom that’s assigned to learn, hence in presence of calamities students are put in

higher risks. Also change of classes causes a lot of time wastage and inconvenience thus taking

longer time to complete a lesson .7

In conclusion the world is changing fast and to achieve better results it’s advisable to

adapt to the most convenient mode of learning, so as to be at per with the changing education

systems of the world and to benefit more without being left behind.
