CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
One of the requirements for the graduating Sugar Technology
Students is On-the-Job Training (OJT), as this is the most
exciting aspect of their educational experiences.
The individuals gained self-assurance and learned virtues
like patience and understanding through this, which also gave
them tips and lessons on how to deal with the challenges they
would face in their chosen fields.
Also, it serve as a training ground for individuals,
providing them with the concepts and abilities necessary to face
the real-world battlefield and move toward their ultimate
objectives.
It was a highly worthwhile experience that they shouldn’t
pass up.here, they can individually hone their abilities and do
searches. For the trainees, an OJT or internship program provides
opportunities to go through the actual methodologies of a
specific job using the real tool, equipment, and documents. In
effect, the work place becomes a development venue for the
students trainee to learn more about their chosen field and
practice what they learned form the academic. During the On-the-

Job Training, trainees learned by observing, asking questions,
and taking measured risk to make the most of the opportunity.
Objectives
The main objective is to immerse the students into the
following departments; Quality Assurance Department, Mill
Department, Boiler Department, Raw House Department, and Refinery
Department for a total of 240 hours.
Specific Objectives:
Quality Assurance Department
To make familiar with the following;
1. The basic laboratory practices and procedures; and
2. The different sample materials, equipment, apparatuses
and standard parameters.
Mill and Boiler Department
To familiarize the following;
1. The unit operations involved in the whole Mill and
Boiler process;
2. The functions of various machines and equipment; and
3. The standard vs. actual process parameters observed in
the Mill and Boiler station.

Refinery process;

CHAPTER II
PROFILE OF THE AGENCY
Brief History/ Background of the Company
The First Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC)is an agro-
industrial business enterprise with an interest in sugar
milling, refining and recently, in exporting power
generation. The mill has rated capacity of 5000 TCD with
sugar refinery having a capacity of 7000 bags a day. Its
agro-industry complex is situated in Dos Hermanas, Talisay
City, Negros Occidental approximately 18 kilometers of North
Bacolod City, the provincial capacity of Negros Occidental
While Executive Office is in the City proper of Talisay. The
company was founded on June 13,1963 out of desire of a
number of major sugar plantation owners to manage their own
Sugar Mill. It was established initially under the name of
First Farmers Milling Company (FFMC). The principal founders
were Dr. Trio J. Montinola, Ambassador Pedro C. Hernaez, Dr.
Antonio A. Lizares and Mr. Eduardo L. Clapores. It was

converted into a cooperative on July 20,1968 as a First
Farmers Milling and Marketing Cooperative Association,
Incorporated (FFMMCA). During this time, First Farmers was
the largest Cooperative Sugar Mill in the country. In
February 10, 1989 FFMMCA become First Farmers Holding
Corporation (FFHC). In 1994, it was also recognized “The
Most Environment Friendly Sugar Mill in the Country” by the
association Integrated Millers. On October 2, 2003, First
Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC) become the first and only
“IS014001 Certified Sugar Mill and Refinery in the country”
owned and manage by the sugar planters.

CHAPTER III
SYNOPSIS OF EXPERIENCES
This chapter presents the various activities and experiences
undertaken by the students trainees during their On-the-Job
Training from March 4,2024 at First Farmers Holding Corporation,
Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Orientation
On February 6,2024 the trainee had an orientation as a
preparation for their documents needed before the OJT, such as
MOA, Student Waiver, and Health Certificate as a requirements in
OJT and for their deployment in the Sugar Industry Headed by OJT
coordinator Ma’am Carol Jane Parcon.
On March 4, 2024, 9:AM, the trainees attended an
orientation as an important step in preparation for their
activities in the Sugar Industry, headed by Human Resources
(HR)Staff Sir Raymond A. Enterna and Engr. Francis Kenn B.
Capadocia from the Environment and safety Department. The
orientation started with prayers, then a brief introduction of
the history of First Farmers Holding Corporation(FFHC), the

Mission, Vision and culture of the Company including the
code of conduct, expectations, and values.
The trainees were also oriented on the safety procedures and
guidelines that need to be followed in the Sugar Manufacturing
Facility at FFHC. This includes wearing appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE)at all times such as hard hat and steel
toe boots and wear any other necessary PPE for the specific task
while performing inside the Sugar Factory. It was also emphasized
to always beware of the surroundings for potential hazard with in
work area. Report any unsafe condition or hazard to the
supervisor. Be polite to everyone always in a positive mind.
Moreover, follow proper hygiene and sanitation procedures.
Accessories were not allowed to avoid accidents and always follow
company’s policies and rules.

CHAPTER IV
EVALUATION OF THE TRAINING EXPERIENCES
Insight Gained by the First Student Trainee
As a trainee, On-the-Job Training is very beneficial in the
reason that it served as a guide and training to assist students
enhance their ideas, abilities, and knowledge. The students
benefit from becoming a familiar with and visualizing the various
machines and equipment used in each step. The trainees
appreciated for having a knowledge of the Sugar production that
they may use soon on their field of specialization.
The additional knowledge and experience gained during her
observation and familiarization of the various processes in the
Sugar Manufacturing, as well as the equipment used in the
operation and the actual analysis of the various sample materials
in the Quality Assurance Department, are the trainee consider
their most important achievement during the On-the-Job Training.
The trainee found the entire concept of Sugar Manufacturing
to be interesting as they observed the actual procedures or
process, the equipment or instruments used and the flow of

material from the inputs the Sugarcane to outputs either the
Raw or Refined Sugar. This was the most interesting part of her
On-the-Job Training.
The things that the trainee disliked about the working
environment were the loudness of the machinery, even if you are
inside the offices, you can feel the shaking and vibrating of the
room, the bad odor of some areas, the dusty area, and most of all
the high temperature.
When the trainee was assigned in the Boiler Department, she
had encounter some difficulties, because she was not familiar
with the machines, equipment or regular operating processes at
the Boiler Station.
To overcome those difficulties, the trainee asked help to
the assigned operators or tenders and to the Senior Staff to know
and understand the different processes. Through the help of those
people, especially the personnel of the First Farmers Holding
Corporation (FFHC), the trainee overcome her struggles.
As for the trainee, First Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC)
fulfilled the objectives of the training which is to immerse them
in the different unit processes in the Quality Assurance
Department, Boiler Department, Mill Department, Raw House
Department, Refinery Station. And therefore, the trainee believes

that FFHC is very qualified to be one of the University’s
linkages.
Insight Gained by the Second Student Trainee
The Second Trainee believe that the OJT is very helpful in
preparing for the workplace, where they eventually use the skills
they gain there. Trainee also believes that OJT provides them a
higher chance of remembering and using those talents when the
time comes. Additionally,it serves as a preparation to her future
career.
The Second Trainee most important achievement in his OJT is
that she learned from the experiences and knowledge knowing that
OJT is to provide practice opportunities so that students and
learners can develop the knowledge, skills and competencies
necessary to perform the job task associated with her job roles.
The aspects of the OJT that the Trainee interest the most is
the determination to learn and develop every day the whole
process of Sugar Manufacturing in actual, wherein determination
keeps you focused on learning, keeps you moving forward, and also
helps you overcome failure.
The Trainee needs to improve her technical skills, such as
using specific equipment and tools that are visible from the
training station and are required for their job. In addition, as

Trainee, she also need to improve her adaptability skills,
including the ability to work in different situations and
environment.
The Trainee disliked about the working environment, such as
limited opportunities for hands-on experience where, the trainee
needed the most practice to get ready for the assigned task or
job in Sugar Manufacturing. Also, trainee dislikes that she has
in working environment the trainees inadequate training that all
trainees needed for their job preparation.
The aspects that he finds difficult when it comes to trainee
as a newbie it is hard to catch up on some lessons easily, most
especially in every Department they have dealt with that has a
long process, such as the Raw House and Refinery Department,
knowing that their processes are similar to those of the final
products.
The Trainee, managed to overcome those difficulties through
the help of First Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC) Staff,
Department Head and Tenders for their Guidance, Also the trainee
overcomes thee difficulties knowing the importance of OJT why
trainee needs to undergo the said training for their job
preparation.
The First Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC) is qualified to
overcome one of the Universities linkage where the said

training station is capable in performing the whole process
of Sugar Manufacturing and has efficient machines to perform the
whole process where the trainees can learn and develop their
skills and knowledge for the assigned task. Furthermore, First
Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC) after training program that
are relevant to the courses offered by the University. This
ensures that student receives the appropriate training or their
Academic Studies.

CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Conclusion
At the end of the internship,the trainees concluded that the
OJT in sugar manufacturing provided valuable knowledge and
experiences in various aspects of the sugar production
process.And the trainees in sugar manufacturing should be
equipped with valuable knowledge and skills that will be useful
in their future career. They would have a better understanding
of the sugar production process,quality control measures, and
communication in a work environment. Furthermore,the trainees
concluded that to provide new skills and knowledge while
performing actual job duties, that trainees should stay close
with supervisor’s supervisions, who provides guidance and
feedback. The almost two-months OJT at First Farmer Holding
Corporation. (FFHC) was memorable for the trainees,who learned a
great deal from their experiences during OJT. Developing a good
relationship with experience colleagues who shared their
knowledge, experience, and skills can lead to lasting impression,
valuable mentorship, and overcoming challenges. The trainees
learned how to ensure that the sugar produced meets the required

standards in terms of purity and color. And learned how to
perform various test and inspections. Also the trainees are
exposed to various industrial practices, such as maintenance
equipment documentation, production data, and adherence to safety
regulations. The trainees experiences gains an understanding of
the of the importance of these practices and how they contribute
to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production
process. In addition, the trainees developed their skills when it
comes to approaching the people they are dealing with in sugar
manufacturing, most especially the head department supervisor and
tenders, who guided them to experience the actual procedures in
sugar manufacturing and become more responsible for their
respective assigned tasks. OJT is important to student as a
future employee because it provide students with practical
experience in a real-world setting, which is often more valuable
that theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms. This hands-on
experience for BST students helps them better understand the
industry that they are studying, the job they will perform, and
the skills required to succeed in their chosen career.

Recommendations
The OJT can be the most effective way of learning for the
students, so they can easily catch up on the lessons where they
are observing them in actuality, but some parts need to be
improved, such as the trainees need for more time exposure in
every department of sugar manufacturing to learn and develop
their skills enough in actuality. The trainees needed to explore
and develop their skills in their chosen career,such as operating
machines, with the guidance of supervisors to ensure that the
trainees fully understood and achieved the said knowledge when in
comes to sugar factories. To the future interns of BST students,
it is good for them to be: 1) more approachable to the trainers
for them to be well assisted. 2) Don’t hesitate to ask questions
in relation to sugar manufacturing. 3) Don’t spend your time to
things don’t really matter. 4) always listen to someone observing
or lecturing so they understand the whole process. 5) know the
do’s and don’ts inside the factory to avoid accidents. And; 6)
always consider other opinions; no one is perfect; and take time
to explore yourself as a trainee.
