1 Using the Honeywell Hyperion 1300G scanner
1.1 Connecting the scanner with USB

Connect one end of the interface cable to the scanner (1), and the
other end to the USB port of your personal computer (2). The scanner
emulates the operation of a keyboard.
Replacing the USB cable:

If the USB cable needs replacing, insert a straightened paperclip through the
small hole on the side of the scanner's handle to release the connector.
1.2 Barcode reading techniques

The scanner has a bright red aiming beam. The aiming beam should be centred horizontally over
the bar code.

1.3 Factory default settings

To reset the scanner to the factory default settings, scan the barcode below.

By doing so, the settings that are crucial for the use within the COBISS system are changed and
set to the values below:

If necessary, these parameters may be updated (see chapter 2).
1.4 Troubleshooting
The scanner automatically performs a self-test when you turn it on. If your scanner is not
working properly, check the following:
1. Is the power on?
2. Does the red aiming beam illuminate when you press the trigger?
If the aiming beam does not illuminate:
1. Is the cable connected properly on both ends (scanner, computer)?

2. Is the computer on and is it powering the scanner?

3. Is the trigger working?
If the scanner is having trouble reading barcodes:
1. Are the barcodes smeared, scratched or dirty?
2. Is the scanner dirty of are there water droplets on its surface?
If the scanner scans the barcode, but you still have to press a key to enter it:
1. You need to program a suffix for the scanner (Enter/Return).
If the scanner won't read the barcode at all:
1. Scan the sample barcode. If the scanner reads the sample barcode, check that your barcode
is readable.
2. If the scanner can't read the sample barcode, enable the scanning of this barcode type.
If you are unsure about the current scanner settings, reset it to the factory default settings and
then reset the required settings.

Set up the scanner by connecting the scanner and reading the barcodes in the right column of the
table below (from top to bottom). Each step is explained next to each barcode (on the left).

When setting up the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode, perform step one, followed by either 2a or 2b.
Perform step 2a for Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes with even parity.
Perform step 2b for Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes with odd parity.

Select the beeper volume: 1a, 1b, 1c or 1d.
