COURSE OUTLINE

RESEARCH IN LANGUAGE
(SEEL 114)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course develops the students’ ability to appreciate, analyse, and critique
works of art. Through interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches, this course
equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical ,
and social relevance of the arts. The course also develops students’ competency in
researching and curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating
art productions. The course aims to develop students’ genuine appreciation for
Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and
richness and their rootedness in Filipino culture (CMO No. 20, series of 2013).

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

1. State the values of the Vision, Philosophy, Mission, and Goals of the
University;
2. Learn and apply the basic knowledge of visual arts and performing arts
activities;
3. Be familiar with local arts , providing the aesthetic satisfaction and
increased understanding of contemporary trends;
4. Compose various visual and performing arts integrating the values of
creativeness and beauty.
5. Cultivate positive values like positive attitude, discipline, and
excellent performance to both visual and performing arts.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1. Enrollment in the Google Classroom and Facebook Group page


2. Accomplish all activities and tasks in this module and submit in
Google Classwork as assigned.
3. Take and pass quizzes, and the required major examinations via
Google Forms and via uploaded pen and paper tests in messenger
group chat and/ or email.
GRADING SYSTEM
Midterm Grade = Class Standing 60% + Midterm Exam 40%

 Class Standing = Activities – 35% + Summative tests – 25%


Midterm Exam = 40%

Final Grade = Midterm Grade 40% + Final Term Grade 60%

 Final Term Grade= Class Standing 60% + Final Exam 40%


Activities = 35%
Summative tests = 25%
Final Exam = 40%
