corners or edges. It is the set of all points in a
plane with same distance from a certain point.
This point is called the center of the circle.
Circles are around us. The shape of a P10-coin,
pizza and a hula hoop are some examples. A
circle is the set of all points in a plane with same
distance from a certain point. This point is called
the center of the circle. What are the basic
terms related to a circle.
The following terms are related to a circle.
A circle is a simple closed curve. It is a set of all

points that are at the same distance from a
given point in the plane called center. the
midpoint of a circle is called center.
A chord is a segment whose endpoints lie on

the circle.
A diameter is a chord that connects two points
on the circle and passes through the center of
the circle. Every diameter is a chord. The
diameter is two times the radius
. A radius is the segment from the center to any

point in the circle. ( plural-radii). The length of
the radius is onehalf the length of a diameter of
a circle.
The circumference is the distance around the

circle.
The arc is the part of the circle between any
two points. It is a part or portion of the
circumference of the circle.
