Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 8- TLE (Computer Hardware Servicing)


Time: 2:00 pm-3:00pm
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of 60 minutes class discussion, atleast 85% of the Grade 8- Garnet are
expected to:
1. identify the different tools used in hardware servicing and their uses;
2. explain the importance of tools used in hardware servicing; and
3. classify and label the different hardware servicing tools.

Good afternoon, class.

How are you today?

b. Prayer
Let us all stand for the opening prayer.

Jellian, please lead the prayer.

c. Checking of Cleanliness
Okay class, before you take your seat pick up the pieces of dirt under your chair and
arrange your chair properly.

d. Checking of Attendance
Let us now check your attendance. If you’re here say PRESENT and if your
classmate is not here, say ABSENT.

Checking of Assignment
Let us now check your assignments. Put out your notebooks and pass it in front.

Recall
What was our topic last meeting?

Can you give an example of ports and cables?

What are the steps in connecting cables?

How did you plug the cable to its ports?


Motivation
Before we proceed discussing our topic, we will play a game. Let’s go TREASURE
HUNTING!
Here are the instructions:
1. We have three levels here. Each level has a corresponding question.
2. Each question has a corresponding price.
3. You must answer the question of each level correctly so the pirate will move
until it gets the treasure chest.
4. The treasure chest will reveal our topic for today.

LEVEL 1: Which tool is used to strip and cut wires?


ANSWER: WIRE CUTTER

LEVEL 2: Which tool is used to loosen or tighten cross-head screws?


ANSWER: PHILIPS SCREW DRIVER

LEVEL 3: I’m at your hand when you need light, you need me the most when its
dark at night. What am I?
ANSWER: FLASHLIGHT

LEVEL 4: We are a tool you use to clean, blow the dust and wipe the scene. What
do we call?
ANSWER: CLEANING TOOLS

Lesson Proper
So, our topic for today is about the Hardware Servicing Tools.

Here are the learning outcomes that you will be able to meet at the end of the lesson;
(Present the Leaning Outcomes)

Here are some terminologies that you will encounter to our discussion:

Definition of Terms
Static electricity – An accumulation of electric charge on an insulated body.
Tool – Is a handheld device that aids in accomplishing a task.
Toolkit – A set of tools designed to be used together.

A. Activity
Now, let’s start with an activity.
Here are the instructions:
1. First, form into three groups.
2. Each group will be given several tasks.
GROUP 1: - Classify and label the pictures of tools used in computer hardware
servicing.

GROUP 2: You will be given a picture of tools used in computer hardware servicing.
 Make a collage using those pictures of computer hardware servicing tools.

GROUP 3: -Watch a short video. after watching the video, you will list down the tools
used and state its use.

3. You only have two (2) minutes to finish your task.


4. Each group will present their work after 2 minutes.
5. The first group to finish their task and present their work will have a surprise.

B. Analysis
Discussion/ Brainstorming
 Discuss the four categories of hardware tools.
 Discuss the Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) tools, hand tools, cleaning tools and
diagnostic tools.

C. Abstraction
Did you see an actual hardware servicing tools?

Who use those kinds of tools? Did you experience using those tools?

How important are those tools?

Is it necessary for a future computer hardware servicer to be familiar with those tools
and its uses? Why?

What do you think will happen if a hardware servicer is not familiar with those tools
and its uses?

D. Application
Let’s have an activity to apply the knowledge you gain from our discussion.

Here are the instructions:


 Form into three groups. Each group will be given a picture of the tools.
 Each group will classify and label the tools given to them.
 After classifying and labeling, each group will post it on the manila paper posted on
the board.
 You only have 2 minutes to classify and label the tools.
 Each group will present their work and state the uses and importance of the
classified and labeled tools.
