D. Discussing new concepts and practicing

new skills #1

Our topic for today is all about “Interpersonal

Communication” but let us define first what
communication is.

Communication is the act of giving, receiving,

and sharing information from one place, person
or group to one another. In other words, talking
or writing, and listening or reading.

For example: Yes, sir.

 Exchanging information with your

friend.
 Chatting with your friend about your
assignment.

Do you understand now what communication is?

Interpersonal Communication – it is a way by

which the thoughts, feelings, meanings and ideas
are exchanged in a face- to- face settings
between two people or more. It can be performed Yes, sir.
through an interview, a dialog/discussion or a
conversation.

the students.

1.Listen well

 You must have good listening skills to be

able to understand a person’s words more
clearly and react in a positive manner.

2.Think before you speak

 “Look before you leap.” You should think

how your words are going to affect the
person with whom you are communicating
before making any comments.

3. Do not interrupt the other person

 It is very rude to interrupt a person while

he is speaking. Nobody likes to be
interrupted because it hampers the
thought process and it is disrespectful.

 Always try to stick to the topic of

discussion to maintain the importance of
the communication process.

than 50% non-verbal communication
which includes appropriate body
language. For example, the way you sit,
eye contact, hand gestures, nodding your
head etc.

6.Be open to receiving feedbacks

 Be ready for comments or criticism.

F. Developing Mastery
PASS THE MESSAGE! (By group)

Now, you will be divided into three groups. Each

group will form a line and choose a
representative to come in front and get the
message to me. What you are going to do is to
whisper the message to your groupmates until it
reaches the end of the line. The person in the
last line will write the message on the board and
whose group got the correct message first, wins.
When you are done, shout “Success”. Yes sir.

(The students are enjoying the game)

Do you understand? Are you all excited?

Okay start now. (The students are clapping)
