The controller board (CTL board) have been updated with the System/Copy firmware.
Caution
- The old System/Copy firmware (version 1.01) is not compatible with the new CTL
board.
- The new System/Copy firmware (version 1.03) is compatible with both old and new
CTL board.
- If you use a new CTL board, do not downgrade the System/Copy firmware to
version 1.01. If the old System firmware is installed to the new CTL board, SC878
(TPM authentication error) will occur.
- If SC878 occurs after downgrading the firmware, the CTL board must be replaced
with a new one to solve the SC878 error.
Change/Reason:
An IC on the CTL board has been discontinued. The new IC is not compatible with the old
one and required a firmware change.

Symptom:
If a user sets only the toner cartridge in the machine while the drum unit is pulled out, the
following message might be displayed on the operation panel:
- Chimay-MF1: “Toner Cartridge(s) are not set correctly. Please set correctly.”
- Chimay-P1: “Set the Print Cartridge correctly.”
Cause:
The toner ID chip connectors in the front of the machine are bent.
Technical Bulletin PAGE: 2/3
Model: Chimay-MF1/P1 Date: 28-Sep-20 No.: RD0AP013
In addition, there also might be a contact mark on the ID chip of the toner cartridge and/or
a dent on the rib near the ID chip.
This is likely to occur if the toner cartridge and drum unit are pulled out together and only a
new toner cartridge is placed back in the machine.
Action:
1. Instruct the customer on the correct replacement procedure for the toner cartridge.
Note: When replacing the toner cartridge, the toner cartridge needs to be pulled out
individually by pulling down the lock lever.
Cf. When replacing the drum unit, the toner cartridge and drum unit need to be pulled
out together as one.
2. If the toner ID chip connectors in the front side of the machine are bent, replace

When the amount of toner remaining (%) *1 is calculated from the amount of toner
supplied, or the total distance (%) *2 of operation by the toner cartridge, whichever is
lower is taken as the value of the amount of toner remaining. Either can be calculated
from the toner supply operation time. When the amount of toner remaining reaches the
threshold of the amount of toner available for use *3, this triggers the estimated toner
near-end alert.
*1 Toner remaining [%] = { Amt. toner supplied [g] / (Initial toner fill [g] - Toner fill
tolerance and toner amt. margin [g]) } x 100
*2 Amt. toner consumed [%] = (Toner cartridge operation time distance / Used toner end

- 6% image coverage ratio
- 3P/J
- APV: 3.0k prints/month
The printing habits of the customer (document type, job size, image density,

yield. Accordingly, the actual number of days and/or pages that the
machine can print with the remaining toner may vary considerably.

Background
The supplier factory has discontinued the supply of CIS, which was used in the ADF Ass’y.
As a result, the following target parts have also been changed.
As the interchangeability of the target parts is X/X, the old parts will continue to be
supplied. So, when replacing them in the field, the old parts need to be installed in the old
machines, and the new parts need to be installed in the new machines as well.
If the old CIS can no longer be supplied in the future, it is necessary to replace with the
new CIS and SCB as a set.

Note:
If you put the old System/Copy firmware (v.1.10 (D0A45540G) or earlier) into the
machine in which the New1 SCB is installed, the SCB will become defective. In this
case, it is necessary to replace it with the New1 or New2 SCB.
If you put the old System/Copy firmware (v.1.13 (D0A45540K) or earlier) into the
machine in which the New2 SCB is installed, the SCB will become defective. In
this case, it is necessary to replace it with the New1 or New2 SCB.
There are three types of Engine firmware (v1.xx:xx, v2.xx:xx, v4.xx:xx). When
applying the Engine firmware individually, you should pay attention to which type the
machine currently has. When applying the package firmware, the machine
automatically recognizes the type of Engine firmware and only load the correct type of
the firmware. However, in this case, it is assumed that the System/Copy firmware is
v.1.11 (D0A45540H) or later) for New1, and the System/Copy firmware is v.1.14
(D0A45540L ) for New2.

Background
The supplier factory has discontinued the supply of CIS, which is used in the ADF Ass’y
service parts. Since there will be a reduced supply of CIS, it will no longer be included in
replacement ADF Ass’y service parts.
We have secured the required quantity of CIS for the lifetime of the device, so CIS-only
service parts will continue to be provided.
