1. Identify the different steps in setting up tools, materials and equipment

UNDERSTAND
Steps in Setting up tools and materials for drawing
1. Clean the drawing area, drawing board/table and the drawing tools with use of tissue, dusting
brush or clean cloth.
2. Place the T-Square and along with it set the drawing paper and fasten it with a drawing tape.
Make sure that the T-square and Drawing Paper are parallel.
3. Sharpen the Pencil with the use of cutter, sharpener or sandpaper to achieved desired pencil
point.
4. Along the edge of the drawing paper measure 1cm. on each side and sketch line with the use
of T-square and triangles, make sure to use light pencil such as 4h or 3h.
5. Measure on the bottom line 1.5 cm then followed by 1 cm. then sketches the horizontal lines.
6. Now, concentrate on the bottom part, from the left vertical line measure 6 cm, and then
followed by 9 cm, after measure again 5.5 cm and the last is another 5.5 cm.
7. Along the measurement, sketch vertical lines with the use of triangle (make sure to rest the
triangle on the blade or body of the T-square to maintain its parallel lines.
8. Use 3 guidelines rule in placing the text, based on the given picture.
9. Indicate the following information as given on the illustration. Use HB pencil for text.
10. Now, finalize the drawing with the use of medium grade pencil (HB).

12. Submit the output to the teacher or person in charge.

Key Points
In learning drafting, one must remember the following;

A. Sketching horizontal lines requires T-square that is parallel to the paper.
B. Sketching vertical lines must require the aid of the triangle that should rest on the body of
the T-square.
C. Use light grade pencil in sketching guide lines and medium grade pencil to finalize
drawings and text.
D. For text letters use upper case letters as this is engineering drawing with a standard height
of 0.5cm or also known as 5 mm.
