Police were dispatched to 6625 E. Lloyd (Target) in reference to a shoplifter in

custody. On scene, I identified the shoplifter via her IN ID, and I spoke with the
loss prevention officer about what he observed. He stated he watched the suspect
select a cart full of merchandise, but noticed with alot of the clothing items, she
was not putting them in the main storage part of the cart but rather placing them in
the part where a child would sit. The suspect then covered up those clothing items
with her coat and purse by placing them on top of the items. Then the suspect
selected some more clothing items, and placed those on top of her coat. Finally,
the suspect went through a check out line, and paid for all the merchandise in the
front of the cart. She told the cashier she had some other items, those being the
clothes, that she would like to put on hold so that she could come back at a later
time and buy them. The cashier pointed her in the direction of the service counter,
and told her she could do that there. The suspect pushed her cart to the service
counter, where there was a lengthy line. While waiting in the line, the suspect
decided to put some stationary back on the shelf instead of placing it on hold with
the rest of the clothing items. After doing this, instead of returning to the line at
the service counter, the suspect pushed the cart, with the unpaid clothes in it, out
the exit doors. That`s when loss prevention stopped her. She told them she got
distracted by texts she was getting as she was putting the stationary up, and then
forgot what she was originally doing at the service counter. The clothes were
recovered by loss prevention. I told the suspect she was now barred from all
Target locations. I issued her a citation, and made her leave Target`s property.
