1. Introduction & Scope:
This method statement is applicable to the installation of light fittings, as set out in
the project specifications and the approved shop drawings and details. This includes
but is not limited to the installation, inspection and acceptance of the installation upon
completion.
2. Purpose:
The purpose for generating this method statement is to define the step by step
procedures and to implement the correct practices for the Installation of Chandelier
Lights through the guidelines contained herein so as to ensure that the job execution
complies with the requirements of the contract specifications and serves the intended
function to be satisfactory level; and to ensure that the safe working procedures for
this operation are detailed and implemented throughout the execution of the work
activities.

On the receipt of the materials on site, necessary precautions shall be taken for
unloading, shifting and storing these materials. Following procedures must be
followed:

4.1.1 All materials received at site shall be inspected and ensured that the
materials are as per approved material submittal.
4.1.2 Any discrepancies, damages or non-compliance as per the approved
material submittal must be recorded and materials not complying with
the Project Specifications shall be quarantined or to be removed from
site immediately.
4.1.3 All delivered materials shall then be submitted to the Engineer for
approval through Material Inspection Request (MIR) before using these
materials at site. Under no circumstances that any materials shall be used
on site without approval of the MIR.
4.1.4 Materials shall be stored in a covered and dry space at all times.
Chandelier lights and accessories shall not be stored under direct
sunlight to avoid ultra violet degradation.
4.1.5 Stored materials shall be stacked as per the manufacturer’s
recommendation and as per the safety requirements.
4.1.6 All materials shall be checked and inspected by Verger QA/QC
Engineer.
4.2 Procedure
4.2.1 When received, all materials and equipments shall be inspected for
damage during shipment. Examination should be made before removing
it from the railroad car or truck, and, if any damage is evident or any
indication of rough handling is visible, a claim should be filed with the
carrier at once and the manufacturer notified.
4.2.2 Subsequently, an internal inspection should be made for damage or
displacement of parts, loose or broken connections, dirt or foreign
material, and for the presence of water or moisture. This inspection
should be repeated before placing the equipments in service.
4.2.3 Any non-conformance such as discrepancies with the approved
submittal and defective or damaged materials must be labelled and
returned for replacement. Material inspection request shall be issued for
the Consultant’s approval.

4.2.4 Loading and unloading of equipments shall be carried out by hand to
prevent damage.
4.2.5 All materials and equipments shall be stored in a covered and dry space
at all times. Extra care must be implemented when handling and storing
these equipments to avoid mechanical damages and unwanted scratches
prior to installation.
4.2.6 The equipment shall not be subjected to any vibration.
4.3 Pre-installation Check
4.3.1 Ensure that all safety requirements are in place in accordance with
project safety plan, including relevant permits to work. All site
personnel will be equipped with the appropriate Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE). A work instruction will also be produced and issued
to the person in charge of the installation along with any relevant layout
drawings and installation instructions.
4.3.2 Check the hand tools to be in good working conditions and is suitable
for the purpose. Temporary supply for electric tools must be arranged
properly and connection leads are not damaged.
4.3.3 All necessary working permits shall be acquired prior to starting the
activity which the permits will be applied for. Openings / penetration
covers will not be removed until permits are received from the Safety
Department.
4.3.4 Exclusion zones shall be provided, if required, to control the work area.
4.3.5 Ensure that the latest revisions of approved Shop Drawings and details
are being issued for installation.
4.3.6 Ensure that all electricians and helpers are aware of the correct material
handling and installation procedures to ensure best quality of
workmanship. In addition, all electricians are to be certified and
competent to perform this activity on the project, and aware of the safe
working requirements contained within this document and associated
risk assessment.
4.3.7 Ensure that adequate lighting and ventilation is provided in the working
area.

4.3.8 Ensure that all safety requirements are in place in accordance with
project safety plan, including relevant permits to work. All ladders and
scaffoldings to be used must be properly erected as per manufacturer’s
recommendation and must be checked by the Safety Officer and/or
competent personnel.
4.3.9 All scaffolding must be tagged and inspected.
4.4 General Requirements
4.4.1 Ensure all civil works are completed mainly internal building making
sure the area is ready and clear for any obstruction.
4.4.2 Ensure that the work area is ready and safe to start installation of
chandelier lights. Access panels should be provided where chandelier
lights installed on gypsum ceiling. Markings for the cut outs on the
ceiling should be given to the main contractor for cutting prior to
installation of the equipments. Ensure that the final wall finish is
completed before mounting the light fitting accessories.
4.4.4 Ensure the installation of chandelier lights and accessories are carried
out in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation recommendations,
requirements of applicable standards and in accordance with recognized
industrial practices and as specified in the project specification for light
fitting to ensure that light installation follows the approved installation
shop drawings.
4.4.5 Ensure that chandelier light containments are meet the required
clearance to Electrical containments and Mechanical services as per
specifications and Approved Shop Drawings.
4.4.6 Ensure that the locations for the chandelier lights are coordinated with
the architectural drawings and other disciplines as per approved Shop
Drawings and Co-ordinated Ceiling Plans.

4.4.7 Ensure that all wirings to be pulled are as per approved material
submittals. Pulling compound shall be used during the wiring
installation.
4.4.8 Upon installation, ensure that the chandelier lights are free from
mechanical damages, dust, and should be covered for protection until the
inspection, testing and commissioning.
4.4.9 Work Inspection Request for the installation shall be raised for
Consultant’s approval.
4.5.1.3 Fixtures and /or fixture outlet boxes shall be provided with hangers to
adequately support the complete weight of the fixture. Design of
hangers and method of fastening, other than shown on the drawing
shall be submitted to the Engineer for review and acceptance.
4.5.1.4 Pendant fixtures within the same room or area, shall be installed
plumb and at a uniform height from the finish floor. Adjustment of
height shall be made during the installation.

place of an outlet in other location is to be referred to the Engineer.
5. Responsibilities:
5.1.1 To ensure that all the preparation and application works are carried out
according to the Contract Specification.
5.1.2 To ensure that the progressing of works is carried out according to the
planned program and as per the approved Method Statement.
5.1.3 To ensure that all the equipments and materials required executing the
work are available according to the planned construction program.
5.1.4 To provide all necessary information and distribute responsibilities to his
construction team.
5.1.5 To coordinate with the Main Contractor MEP Coordinator & Safety
Officer for a safe and proper execution of the works.
5.3.1 The foreman will carry out his duties by maintaining continuous
coordination with the Site Engineer on daily basis and ensure proper
distribution of the workforce in the required and planned locations.

5.3.2 To ensure that his assistant foreman/ charge hand are aware of the job
requirements and they have enough information to carry out their duties
properly.
5.3.3 To ensure in consultation with the Project Engineer that the manpower
involved in the works are moving as agreed and planned for the work.
5.3.4 To ensure that the daily work is progressing as planned and as advised
by the Site Engineer of any requirement for additional resources.
5.3.5 To control disposal of waste materials according to the instructions
received from the Site Engineer.
5.3.6 To ensure full coordination with the Safety Officer to maintain safe
working and proper house keeping of the site, following the approved
safety measures and further ensure that all his working team are aware
of the same to prevent accident and losses.
5.3.7 To inform the Project Engineer of the areas ready for inspection.
5.4.1 To ensure and confirm that latest approved drawings are used for
installation.
5.4.2 To ensure that the Light Fittings are new and undamaged and as per
approved submittal and as per specification.
5.4.3 To check the installation layout and location is as per approved drawing
and workmanship is acceptable, complete and in compliance with
project documents.
5.4.4 To facilitate the submission of ITR and ensure that the documentation is
complete and duly signed by all concerned parties.
5.4.5 To follow up the approval of the ITR with the consultant and logging the
status to the inspection.

6. Equipment/Materials:
The equipments/materials that will be engaged for the Installation of Light Fitting
will be as follows:
7.1 All work shall be controlled as per site HSE procedures and OSHAD SF.
7.2 Site Engineer / Supervisor will check and ensure all safety precautions are
taken prior to commencement of work. Also, to ensure a pre-task brief is
conducted to personnel involved in the task.
7.3 Task specific PPE must be worn at all times during work including hard hat,
gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask and coveralls.
7.4 Safe access to work location shall be provided at all times. Working on
scaffolding platform greater than 1.8m high, personnel must ensure it is
green tagged “safe to use” (by certified scaffolding foreman) & also done a
full body harness & observe 100% tie off.
7.5 All new starters must first receive ASK-JV site safety induction before
entering site. Regular tool box talks shall be given to personnel.
7.6 Permit to work must be obtained from ASK-JV HSE Department.
7.7 Any injury sustained whilst at work must be treated by a trained First Aider
and also by site Nurse. The Site Nurse will determine if hospital treatment is
required.
7.8 The Engineers / Foreman will ensure that work area is ready considering the
hazard and its controls as per the approved Method Statement and Risk
Assessment. Toolbox meeting to be conducted prior to start any work.

7.9 The HSE Officer/Inspector shall verify the hazard and risk assessment form
and make sure that the controls are being implemented as per the approved
Risk Assessment.
7.10 The HSE Officer/Inspector shall conduct HSE Induction for new workers
and all HSE related toolbox talks.
7.11 HSE Officer shall ensure that all needed Personal Protective Equipments
(PPEs) are available.
7.12 The Engineers/Foreman shall ensure that PPEs (Coverall, Safety Shoes,
Helmet, High Visibility Vest & task specific such as Mask, Gloves, Safety
Glass, Goggles & Ear Plug) issued to the workers are worn at all times while
performing the task. HSE operatives will randomly verify the same.
7.13 The following OSHAD SF Codes of Practice will be strictly followed:
7.13.1 COP 2.0 – Personal Protective Equipment.
7.13.2 COP 11.0 – Safety in Heat.

7.13.4 COP 10.0 – Manual and Ergonomics
