The RS-485 network should include a terminating resistor, installed between the
two lines at or on the last node. The terminating resistor should match the
characteristic impedance of the transmission line, approximately 120 ohms. This
terminating resistor is required when connecting ARM100 modules to the port.

The COM3 has similar function as the COM3 serial port of the
Ethernet/COM2/COM3 option board shown in Figure 2-29. However, the COM3 on
the Ethernet/USB/COM3 option does not support RS-422. It only provides RS-232
and RS-485 connections and can be wired the same as the standard COM1 serial
port. Refer to the COM1 connection section described previously for instructions for
wiring to the COM3 port. See Figure 2-23 and Figure 2-24 for details.

occurs, do not force the plastic cover down. Remove the cover and position
the jumper as shown.

External sealing is approved in the United States and Canada; however, when the
terminal is sealed externally, non-metrological components cannot be serviced
without breaking the seal. In Europe, internal sealing is possible, which permits
access to non-metrological components without breaking the seal. Check with
local authorities to determine which sealing method is appropriate.
1. Ensure that the appropriate approval region has been selected in setup under
Scale, Type, Approval and that the Metrology security switch SW1-1 is in the
“on” position.
2. Replace the three Phillips-head screws that secure the rear panel to the
enclosure with the three through-hole screws provided in the sealing kit.
2-35
IND560 Installation Manual
3. Thread the wire cable and plastic seal (Figure 2-58) included with the kit
through the holes in the new screws. The U.S. requires use of only two of the
screws (Figure 2-59), Canada requires use of all three (Figure 2-60).
English
4. Thread the end of the wire cable through the plastic seal and snap the seal
shut.
1. Ensure that the appropriate approval region has been selected in setup under
Scale > Type > Approval and that the Metrology security switch SW1-1 is in
the “on” position.
Refer to Closing the Harsh Enclosure on page 2-4 for the correct method to use
when replacing the front panel.

2. With the front panel installed on the enclosure and snapped into place, thread
the free end of the wire seal through either the left or right hole in the IND560
front panel, and through the hole in the retaining clip.

3. Thread the end of the wire cable through the hole in the plastic seal (as shown
in Figure 2-61), remove any remaining slack in the wire, and snap the seal
shut.

2. For IDNet bases in Europe, the plastic IDNet Sealing Kit (Part number
22000386) must be used to secure the IDNet cable to the IND560 terminal.
For proper installation, follow the instructions supplied with that kit. The IDNet
