October 21, 2024 Quarter 2-Week 5 Monday

I. Objectives
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of order of
operations, ratio and proportion, percent, exponent, and integers.
B. Performance Standard
The learner is able to apply knowledge of order of operations,
ratio and proportion, percent, exponent, and integers in
mathematical problems and real-life situations.
C. Learning Competency
Interprets and explains the Grouping, Exponent,
Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction (GEMDAS) rule.
(M6NS-IIf-148)
D. Objectives
At the end of the discussion, learners should be able to:
 States, explains, and interprets parenthesis, multiplication,
division, addition, subtraction (PMDAS) or grouping,
multiplication, division, addition, subtraction (GMDAS) rule.
II. Learning Content
Topic: PMDAS and GMDAS Rule
Skills: The four basic operations
Reference:
Lesson Guide in Elementary Mathematics Grade VI pages 14,
17, 23-24, Curriculum Guide Math 6
Materials: PowerPoint presentation, T.V, chalk and board
Subject Integrated:
Mathematics 6 - Gives the value of numbers expressed
in
exponential notation.
ESP – Naipakikita ang pagpapahalaga sa oras
Values Focused: Being helpful

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activity
1. Daily Routine
Checking of attendance
2. Drill (Integration of Mathematics 6)
Game: Evaluating the exponential notation
Mechanics:
The teacher will flash the given expression on the television.
The students will solve it as fast as they can.
The student who will get the answer correctly will have a point.
Students who got the most number of correct answers will be
declared as winners.
1. 53=¿
2. 26=¿
3. 35=¿
4. 93 =¿
5. 4 5=¿

3. Motivation (Integration of ESP)

Ask the pupils about what they do after coming home from
school. Let them tell how they use their time. Ask them if they use
their time wisely.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
Present this problem.
Lulu comes from school with a heavy heart because of
homework. Her elder brother gives her a helping hand. He has seen
the following:
Evaluate the expressions:
12 – 3 + 18 ÷ 6 × 3
7×9–3+8
18 – 12 ÷ 6 + 7
9×9÷3–9+6
16 ÷ 4 × 5 – 7 + 8

Ask: What are the given data?

What operations do you think must be done first? second?
next? last? Why?
2. Modeling
The teacher will show the solutions on the board.
3. Guided Practice
Perform the following series of operations.
1. (7 × 9) + (3 ×21)
2. (18 – 5) + 6 + 2
3. (3 + 5) × (42 ÷ 7)
4. 36÷ 2 + 4× (4-2)
5. (16 + 82) ÷ (4 + 4)

4. Independent Activity
Evaluate the following expressions.
1. (114 – 4) × (12 ÷ 4) + 3
2. 16 + 82 ÷ (4 + 4)
3. (36 – 6) × (3 × 4) + 7
4. 122 × 30 + (890 ÷ 2)
5. 6 × 23 + (400 ÷ 2)

5. Generalization
What rule would you follow in order to perform the order of
operation?
Rules in the Order of Operation:
 Perform the operations within each pair of grouping symbols
(parenthesis, brackets, and braces) beginning with the
innermost pair.
 Simplify the expression with exponents.
 Perform multiplication and division as they occur from left to
right.
 Perform addition and subtraction as they occur from left to
right.
IV. Evaluation
Evaluate the following expressions by following the rules:
1. 63 ÷ 7 + 5 + 2 – 6 + 3
2. 6 + (2 × 7 + 5)
3. 3 × (4 + 82) – 8
4. 37 + 3 × 2 ÷ 6
5. 14 ÷ 2 – 3 + 2 × 2
