NEED FOR SAFE DRINKING WATER

It is a known fact that untreated drinking water carries disease causing bacteria and viruses. The intake of
such contaminated water makes you and your family a prey to dreadful water borne diseases like diarrhea,
gastro, cholera, jaundice and dysentery.

Drinking water supply to us may be contaminated in number of ways like old unmentioned water supply
pipelines, poor sanitation, unhygienic level of storage tanks and water supply tankers. Also as drinking
water and sewage pipelines run underground, it has been found that in some cases slippage from broken
or leaking sewage pipes contaminates drinking water supply. Thus to protect us from waterborne diseases
throughout the year we must treat our drinking water.

An ordinary candle filter only removes physical and suspended impurities. Boiling on the other hand, is
effective, however, one must keep the water at boiling point for a minimum of 20 minutes. This process is
time consuming and expensive. What one needs is a water purifier which is simple, easy to use by even
unskilled labor and economical, to eliminate disease causing microorganisms, thus protecting one from
waterborne diseases.

RO PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Reverse Osmosis is the reversal of the natural phenomena of Osmosis by the application of external
pressure on the solution that contains the higher concentration of dissolved ions, thus forcing waterthrough
semi-permeable membrane in the opposite direction leaving the dissolved ions and suspended solids.

In the Reverse Osmosis process, the water that passes through the membrane is commonly referred to as
PERMEATE or product water, the water that remains behind the membrane along with dissolved and
suspended solids is referred to as CONCENTRATE or REJECT water.

WATER TREATMENT BY MEMBRANE:

Membrane treatment in comparison to conventional methods offers following advantages.

1. Required area of installation is very less in comparison to the conventional treatment scheme.

2. The operation cost works out lesser than the treatment cost of conventional system.

EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION:

1. Feed Water storage tank

Feed will be made available to the inlet of feed on continuous basis as per suction capacity of pump. It's at
client's discretion to decide upon the storage mode of feed water.

PRE-FILTRATION SECTION:

FEED PUMP:

Feed pump is centrifugal pump having suitable discharge capacity. The feed pump is required for allowing the
water to pass through the installed pre-filtration and deliver required feed flow to the RO pump.

MULTI GRADE SAND FILTER:

The raw water is filtered through a filter media of multi-grade sand & pebbles (PSF) unit in order to remove
suspended matter, turbidity, and colloidal matter present in the feed water. The PSF is made-up of MS FRP
coated. Internally, it is fitted with inlet distributor and bottom collecting system. Externally it is equipped with
extra strong rigid PVC, or MS frontal pipe work with necessary valves & fittings.
This unit is charged with different grades of filtering sand. Suspended matter gets en-trapped when raw water is
passed in downward direction through layers of different grades of sand bed. The PSF is isolated for backwash
when the pressure drop across the filtering bed is more than specified limit.

ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER:

The Activated carbon filter is used to de-chlorinate the raw water that has been chlorinated and also sometimes
for removal of organic impurities depending on the suspended matter content in the water to be filtered, it is
used after a sand filter.

ANTI-SCALANT DOSING SYSTEM:

All the dissolved salts have particular solubility in water and if the concentration of these salts increases beyond
the saturation point then the salts tend to precipitate out. Silicates have very low solubility and they precipitate
out faster at higher recoveries. Anti-scalant increases the solubility of the salts present in the water. This, in turn
reduces the risk of scale formation.

MICRON CARTRIDGE FILTER:

Micron filtration system is provided for pre-filtration of the fine particles that may have escaped from the
Activated carbon filter. It is also called polishing filter, as it is the final filtration before the water enters the
membranes. This dead end filtration has cartridge housed in imported PP housing. The cartridge rating is 5
micron.

MEMBRANE FILTRATION SECTION - REVERSE OSMOSIS

RO SKID:

HIGH PRESSURE PUMP:

One high-pressure pump is provided to meet the capacity requirement at given operating pressure. The pump
is of Multi stage centrifugal type in stainless steel construction.

REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM:

This system reduces the feed TDS by around 95% thus giving superior quality water, which can be recycled
back to process. This system consists of powder coated MS skid for mounting of high pressure tubes (pressure
vessels) assembled with spiral wound membrane elements. Necessary control valves provided with required
instrumentation for safe operation.

CIP SYSTEM:

The Cleaning in Place system is used for chemical cleaning of membranes at fixed interval during normal
operation over a period of time. RO membrane elements are subject to fouling by suspended or sparingly
soluble materials that may be present in the feed water.

The nature and rapidity of fouling depends on the condition of feed water. Regular cleaning of membranes shall
be done for effective performance of membranes. Cleaning tank with pump & motor is provided in the system.

PERMEATE WATER STORAGE TANK

Client needs to procure intermediate storage tank of desired capacity depending upon the operating hours of
plant
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY

PLANT CAPACITY
The RO plant is designed to produce 4000 LPH of treated permeate water. The pre-treatment plant is designed for a

and its suitability for his use rests with the buyer.

d The quantities of reagents / chemicals required for the treatment process have been on the specific
information furnished by the buyer or the assumptions stated in our proposals. The results stated are those
that would normally be expected by the use of the correct quantities and the best quality reagents
(conforming to latest Bureau if Indian Standards specifications) and subject to the influent water to liquid /
solution proposed to be treated being of the same nature and analytical characteristics as those on which
these proposals have been based and to the plant being installed and operated strictly in accordance with
our instructions.

e Bought out component makes specified in our proposals were selected after exhaustive evaluation and use.
The delivery period and price quoted in our proposal take into account the special prices and preferential
deliveries we get for these makes. Buyers who specify alternate makes do so on the clear understanding
that both price and delivery / quoted in our proposal will have to be modified accordingly.

F SARA has carefully tested and standardized with selected world renowned products and components for its
