Q 2. There are three substances P, Q and R. The substance P shows the individual properties of its
constituents. The substance Q cannot be broken down into simpler substances by any chemical
means. The substance R is also a pure substance whose properties are entirely different from
those of its constituents. Identify P, Q and R by giving one example of each of them. (3)

Q 3. (a) Kamal went to watch movie with his parents. In the dark, he found small beam of light in
which millions of small particles are moving. He also observed that this happens only in
dark room and not in light. He was astonished and asked the reason from his science
teacher. He answered that this is due to scattering of light.
On the basis of above paragraph answer the following questions:

(i) Name the phenomenon of scattering of light.

(ii) What kind of particles scatters the beam of light and why they do so?
